EVX-2 questions

hi guys, i was just wondering if i could just use one battery with the evx-2. ive never had one or even used one so no experiance there. im asuming it would be prety sluggish compared to 2 packs if it even works on 1. if it dosent work on one, could i just steal the blue xl-5 outa my slash and put that in there so i could run one battery instead? ...i know you guys are probly wondering "why only run one battery!" ..well batteries, chargers, and summit are alot of money for 14 year old

so, will it work?

oh yah, and can you run different batt capacities? like run a 4200 and 5000? would that effect it? asuming so but i would love to know!

haha ik wat u mean on the 14 year old, i'm tht age and it is a lot of money for all this stuff you gotta by, especially when you're a crazy nitro bash machine.

i don't have a Summit but i have a villain ex, those have the evx2 in them. to answer your question it doesn't work with just one battery at least in the boat. and if you ran two batts on an xl-5 it might be too much voltage for it.

i would recommend using two batts both the same capacity.

you really need to run 2 packs. The problem with using only 1 pack is that you will only be running 7.4 volts, and the truck would be very, very slow and underpowered. The amp draw would probably be to high for one pack, and probaby end up burning the pack up. As far as running packs of different capacities, you don't want to do that either because the pack with the lower mah will completly drain before the other pack. As a good practice, you shoud use pack that have the same mah, same brand, and the same amout of runs/charges on them.

thanks guys, guess il have to go overboard and ask for a raise! oh and i didnt plan on running the xl-5 with 2 batts, lol that would be cool tho. oh and just for the record- im crazy nitro bash machine to!

see problem is, just bought a 7cell spc and onyx 230 like the DAY before i heard about the summit... i was peeved

you can run one battery with the evx2 but you need to make a jumper and connect it to the BEC side of it.

You CAN run 1 battery on the EVX2 but it is pointless... the truck is so slow and has almost no power.. i ran my e-maxx this way and it barely has any power to go over stuff... Not to mention it is extremely bad for the battery.

Just pick up another SPC pack when you get the money then! That is most likely the best solution. you don't want to ruin it by trying to run one, because then you will have to buy 2 more!

and the reason why i was wondering why one one cuz cost. i knew if could run 1 it would = crap speed..

moose, the problem is it isnt a stick configured 7 cell, its hump.. thats what really p.Os me

and also i was just wondering, if you have 2 6cell 5000 packs wouldnt that basically mean you have a 14.4V 10,000 pack lol? so with couple of these, runtimes theroyectically (im a a+ speller lol) should be pretty good?
EDIT: anybody got some hard fact run times on this thing? 6cell , 7cell?

no, two 6 cell 5000mah packs would be 14.4v 5000mah on the summit.

On 12 cells in a series yes, I.E. 2 6cell nimhs. not on one 6 cell nimh.
