    Batteries getting hot in e-revo

Hi my batteries in my e revo have been quite hot the past 2 runs. Im running in winter in the cold weather so what should I expect in the summer? Is this normal? Thanks

Those are low-quality cells, not advisable for E-revo.
I have an 8-cell pack for my rustler when it was still running brushed. Even with brushed set-up, it still overheats.

Be sure you are not over discharging them. When the performance drop is noticeable, stop running it. That should solve your problem, as I use cheap packs too and mine don't get too hot.

Also, you could go down to 17t pinions, as that will be less strain on the motors.

Hmm ,My revo flew w/ these batteries but then again im new to this and my e-revo is stock. So these cells are junk? What makes a good cell?

Whats the best battery w/out switching to lipo.

No no no. I mean in the truck. Discharging is simply running them. When you run the truck, be sure you stop driving when the performance drops. That should solve your problems.

Not to highjack the thread but seeing that everything is stock on the e-revo except for the 7 cell batteries should the gearing be changed for optimum perfromance and longevity of both the batteries and motors? IF so what should it be changed to ?

    16t pinion?

i have 4600 rocket packs and those boys are way hot after each run, melted the plastic at one time. Are Ever-G 4600 a better battery pack then my rockets?

i'm running really hot right now as well, any advice.
I just put my new 6cell, elite 5000 battery pack in from cheapbatterypacks.com, ran a good run tonight, but they were smoking hot, as were the motors.
i'm running a near stock setup, except for the addition of new wheel and tire combo, proline mashers on rpm revolver rims. same basic height and width, lower overall weight.
I can't think of why it would be so hot, are the batts too much?

You will need one of the following three things:
    *more conservative gearing
    *shorter runs
    *lipo
    E-Revo MMM 2200 "The Missile"
    VXL FLM Rustler

    taken,
Your truck is way overgeared with the stock gearing and the proline mashers. The truck is overgeared from the factory and should be geared down to about 17/68 stock. The heavy tires add more rotating mass which puts stress on your drivetrain and motors. So you should probably gear it down to 15/68 for cooler running with your setup.

As for batteries, I would recommend some of trinities 7-cell ib-4600 packs in a quality side x side construction. IMO they are much better than my promatch matched ener-g 4600s and my elite 5000's. They seem to have more power, run longer, and stay much cooler than my other packs. If those are too expensive, you can always go with the matched promatch batteries. They are just a little over $100 with free shipping.

    Hope this helps.

It has been said, but I want to clarify something...

If your battery-pack has the cells laid out end-to-end, it isn't a very good quality pack...if the cells are laid out side by side, it is a better quality pack.

Also, if the connecting bars are very thin and have been spot welded to the ends of the cells, it isn't a very good pack...but if the connecting bars are thick, and have been soldered to the ends of the cells, it is a better quality pack.
