I took regular Ply wood, and set it up about 2 feet off the ground. I come rolling in about 10, and the last 6 inches of the ramp I go WOT. This is a vxl pede on NiMh.

I know 45 degrees is the optimum angle for balancing distance and height so I'd go north of that.

Make sure it's curved and not a flat peace of plywood at an angle. Flat plywood ramp destroys a good bit of your momentum when you slam into it. I make ramps in similar ways people make skate board half pipes.

so your saying curve it up at the end more than at the begining of the ramp?

Just put some weights on the back and angle it wicked steeply, but not too steep, or you will just hit it like a wall.

If you want to get the right angle for a kicker, just hold a peice of string at each point of you ramp and drupe it until you get the angle you want....does that make sense?

use the thin plywood you can get at the lumber yard for the ramp, just build a firm structure to support it,then you can get your entry without losing speed or controlability and curve it up as you see fit,and adjust it as needed........

when you curve it, make sure to get the plywood for the ramp surface nice and wet so it bends nicely, and use screws for everything no nails

Misbehavin's ramp will get you backflips no problem, all you do is apply throttle while getting air, you can get some good air off his jump.

I've used his design and it works perfect. For that kind of jump, it's more for air than distance...

You don't need a wood ramp. Just buy a "Ten-Eighty" skateboard ramp like I did and you'll be doing back flips all day.

That's exactly what you need. it's more fun really to build a ramp but if they already have them readily available then why not go with that?

I built my own jump off from some website about rc car action magazine. the jump is double sided and have adjustable chains on the sides to make it steep or just a low jump. it cost about 30 bucks to make, but its worth it.

Heres an old video of my xl-5 stampede in action with it.
