    Alu pushrods weight difference vs stock ones

    On Towerhobbies I see no indicated weight, anyone of you knows which is exactly ?

    Considering the price and considering that 8 of them, if I'm right, could be changed it can be useful to know the exact difference from the stock ones.

    If it is relevant , I mean around 250-350 grams ( so almost half a kilo ) total it can be a good deal to lighten the heavy erevo, if the sum outputs on 8 of them only 100 grams I think it is not too much to justify the expense, IMO.

    So take the stock weight, multiply that by 30%, the subtract the sum from the weight of the original rods, there you go. It don't think it will make much difference by themselves, but in conjunction with lightweight pillow ball studs, rocker posts, barrel fittings for the rod ends it may make a noticeable difference when all coupled togather. For the most part the aluminum tube rods are much stronger than the steel according to traxxas. That's the biggest diff you will see.

    It sounds good, but I still miss the exact weight in order to decide if it is worth

    It's nowhere near 250g. I think the savings is around 15g per tube. The good thing is that they're unsprung weight which is more a more valuable weight savings than something on the chassis.

    LOL , that claim makes me laugh ....... I have seen many aluminum pushrods and T/B's snap off it the ends . I have never even bent my Lunsford rods and T/B's .

    The aluminum rods save about 1/2 the weight of the stockers , the titanium rods are just a little bit heavier than the aluminum ones .

    I'd have to agree that if you want the highest strength go with Titanium, generally its stronger than steel, but around 60% the weight of it. So a higher grade higher density TI rod can be stronger and lighter than a steel counterpart. If you want the best go with titanium rods, if you want the lightest and a little better than stock strength go with the aluminum rods (they are generally stronger than stock by design rather than by materials where the TI rods are stronger by materials used but carry a higher cost).

    I myself have only ever broken on stock rod, so I will be going for the lightest weight and cheapest by using the aluminum rods, most people I have seen use them seem to be very satisfied with their durability, but that's me.

    So, if the total saving is just around 120g I think it's not so worth spending around 60$ to gain so poko.

    I love the erevo and I am wondering how can I save weight cause I think it's quite heavy but beside moving to lipos and BL I see no other way to do that.

    Any further hints on that ?

    There was a decent thread in the E-Revo forum detailing how to save weight. There are a few things you can do that don't require a lot of money. Do a search for "weight" in the title of posts in the E-Revo forum.

    Titans already gone to creator so I unintentionally saved weight.

    I read the linked thread but spending so much money to gain 85 grams seems insane to me. Nevertheless I'll perform some search with weight word.

    I also thought to change stock iron screws with alu ones, good idea but the cosmic price is not an option.

    Here's a post I had on weight:

    You might save 100-150g total on new wheels and tires, 60g on the wing, 40g on a steering servo, 32g on the arms, 31g on aluminum pushrods, 16g on aluminum rocker posts, 12g on aluminum hollow balls, 19g on aluminum pivot balls, 70g on a brushless motor, and lipos can save a significant amount, especially when compared to their nimh counterparts. All in all you can shave off over 13 ounces. That's not too bad!
    The wheels and tires are the best place to start saving weight (after doing the free mods like removing the wing and bumpers). Rotating mass is a killer of performance and unsprung weight is a killer of your suspension. Replacing the wheels and tires with lightweight equivalents will solve both. A good set + hub adapters will cost close to $100, but it's some of the best money spent on the truck.

    Yep, I have already switched to proline bow series tyres just for this will. This really saved me almost half a kilo.
