Dell Inspirion 9400 Processor Upgrade?

I have a Dell Insprion 9400.

-.99GB of RAM (Getting 2.0GB because that's all the Laptop can handle)

I also want to upgrade my Processor. I have a 1.73Ghz Processor now. The Laptop is very slow. I was thinking of this one.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115032

If that doesn't work what one will?

Also, This is the RAM I'm getting.

I am going to get TWO of the Kingston ones. 2 -1gb = 2.0gb.

Will those two things work on my Laptop?

Thanks!

You won't be able to upgrade the processor on your laptop.

I can't see the link to the memory, but NewEgg has 2x1GB Crucial kits compatible with your system for $16. I just ordered a set for my old laptop (Inspiron 9300/9400, 1.73GHz Centrino, 1GB RAM - sound familiar?).

And yeah, the processor is essentially permanent in laptops. It can be swapped out on rare occasions that (1) there are no mobo alterations (socket, FSB, etc) between chips and (2) the BIOS supports it. This basically limits you to chips offered from the factory, most of which are long-gone by now.
Six in a row makes it go.

Yes, it could. I am running only 786mb of ram on my XP system, and it pretty quick.

Other than the memory, there's not much you can do to a laptop to speed it up.

Ok, I am going to be RE-installing Windows XP I think. How do I get ALL my iTunes songs to be saved of something?

All of my other Videos/Pictures and Files will be put on CD's.

Only thing I know of to put iTunes on is a disc, I am not sure how, but I know someone will chime in.

As for re-installing, are you just re-formatting? When I re-install an OS on any computer, I wipe the hard drive completely, so that EVERYTHING is gone, and then put files back that I put on a CD. That way, I never have to worry about viruses or anything coming back. The only negative is the time it takes... took 5 hours for one sweep on the wipe...

Put it on a flash drive. My dad put a bunch of stuff on cd's and couldn't get them to load.
