    Performance chevy truck

Hi, I was wondering if any of you could help me find out what this truck is called. Is is the body style of the late 80's and 90's silverado but it is like a performance model. I have seen pics of them before and most are black with red accents. I dont know what is is called but I would appreciate it if you could help. Thanks

go to swap meets. you can find anything. And cheap? if you research the truck, and know how to talk, you can get a good deal.

may I suggest you practice using mom or dads car for a while. My dad has a silveraldo, 2005 and with the 305 or 350 (cant remember) it spins out easily and will give a new/ first time driver a run for their money.

First vehicle I ever drove was our minivan. Second was the truck with a 318 and a flowmaster.

MR. Clean, how light is the truck? My grandparents have a newer Silverado with the bigger motor and the thing handles like its on rails, and tracks nicely too; its only RWD too...

well its a lease, so everythings stock and its a crew cab short bed, but when I said spins out, I meant in the rain, although with effort, it will do it on concrete.

It was a very overrated truck back in 90-91. It was a 7.4L V-8 that only made 230 horsepower. You can get a better truck for less money and plus it will get better gas mileage than the 454SS.

big blocks dont make all that much horsepower but have ungodly amounts of torque.

Those trucks were toads, I would much rather have the syclone or typhoon from gmc. Small S15 truck/blazer, all wheel drive with a 3.8 or 4.3 turbo motor. Those things handled great, got good gas milage and were the fastest things that GM put out in the early 90's... yes they were faster than the Corvette as well.

They really were pretty tame - that "454" was completely bogged down. Sticker package, basically. It only had about 8-10% more torque than comparable smallblocks and had a three-speed dog of a transmission. And single-digit mileage to boot...

I remember those things when new, they were a big deal, but I'd bet a good running 5.3l truck could put a hurting on one of those now. Really all they did was put the engine and trans from the C2500/3500 in the shortbox C1500.

Personally, I'd love to get my hands on a stripper 91-94 4.0l HO Jeep Cherokee in either 2wd or 4wd

And from what I see on the 454SS, a stock 4.0HP XJ can match its 0-60 anyway.

yah basically after the mid 70s most chevy motors espcially the 454 were detuned. meaning they don't kame as much power. and if you ask me that truck in particular is totally overrated.
    GOT ROOST?

If you want a performance truck, build one. You can do it for a fraction of the cost. I took a 4 cylinder 5 speed 1995 2wd Dakota Sport, bought a small block conversion kit from Schumacher Creative Services which is a direct bolt in kit and built a wicked 500 hp small block and autotrans setup. All said and done I had $5000 into the truck($2000 for an immaculate truck with rod knock, $2000 for motor and trans, $1000 for motor support(motor swap kit and proper electronics and harnesses) that got decent fuel mileage, was cheap to insure because the VIN said it was a 4 cylinder truck and would outperform any of these so called performance trucks on the market today.

where did you build 500hp small block for $2000? I work in the performance industry and you have to spend a lot more than $2000 to make 500hp and have it last more than a day.

Sorry for any confusion, it was $2000 in parts. I took a 1968 340 with X heads and stroked it to 416. Purchased a used edelbrock intake and demon carb. I did not include the price of the 340 I started with as I already had it and machine time is free for me. Machine time alone would add at least $1000 for boring and line honing and I completely reworked the heads.
