Skatepark - 2 Pede's - 0
Destruction is all I can say! Found an awesome skate park today, no one using it, no charge just free to play on. So I have my slightly modded 'Pede and my heavily modded 'pede (it's more a wide, extended Rustler with a Pede body :P ) and go to test our (myself and boys) skills or lack thereof. So we pratice on these nice rolling whoop-di-doos, just landing smoothly and then working up to clear the second and land it rolling on the downside. Pretty good stuff, let's move onto the deep bowls. Haha, ok first carnage is when my youngest son lands the mild 'pede square on it's tail, nose up, about a 5 foot drop and shatters wheely bar and does something horrible to the tranny or engine alignment. He can't figure why it's not going and just screeching, so squeezes the trigger more, and you can see the black plastic shooting out the gear cover opening... Ok, one down, one to go. Start to practice going to the top of a 10' high bowl, getting higher and then turning around, all seems good starts rolling back and gunning it back up higher. I though putting the Talons on all trucks would lessen some of the sheer forces since they slip easily; evidently not enough. Horrid grinding sound outta 'pede number 2. Ok, time to check things out. We've been actually driving maybe 5 mins or so at this point. Get 'pede number one back to running somewhat, although it still doesn't sound right in the tranny. 'Pede number 2 is out of commission awaiting deeper teardown, but all the sudden I get this call; "hey Dad, watch this!" I can't see my youngest or the truck down behind a wall, but they are in a channel leading up to a huge bowl that goes straight up. I hear the whine increase and then swoosh I see the 'Pede flying straight up into the air something like 25' up (no exaggerment) from the height he is standing below, straight up, it slows, pivots slowly (too slowly) and smack, upside down on the concrete! I wish someone had a camera on the truck, no wait; my face would have been a better picture while it fell back to earth! lol. We'll day ended, no $$ total yet, but likely we'll be lucky to have something running by this weekend. Anyways, will get these apart shortly, I do know that the body looks like a sledgehammer hit it, mounts cracked, new 7 cell busted it's case and is now looking more like the letter "C" sideways than flat with a hump. Oh boy, I think we'd better go back to the dirt, this concrete stuff is too unforgiving!
