Are you trying to get the pinion off of the Titan? I just put the 23T pinion on the Slash right when I put the VXL in.

BTW, when did you get a Slash?

Uh, hmm, try using a screwdriver as a pry bar to get it off. Why is the pinion being removed anyway?

I have tried that to no avail. At this point it dosnt need to be removed but I dont want it to be stuck on it.

Try this: Put the tip of a pair of needlenose pliers around the rotor shaft between the spur and the motor. Then, try prying with that. If that doesn't work, yell loudly and start throwing inexpensive but heavy things around, that's what worked for me.

Just make sure that you never spray WD-40 when you are doing a soldering project. WD-40 + 40W Soldering Iron = personal flamethrower. Set a piece of sandpaper on fire. Not fun.

In the past I`ve heated the pinion with a lighter, aprox 150/175 deg, then with the needle nose tip between motor and pinion,I push down trying to keep it as straight as possible. It`s poped out every time for me

It's a high price to pay for throwing things around but it does make you feel better...for a while.

He said the grub screw was not in it.

Sounds like some thread lock got on the shaft and is holding the pinion on it. Heat has worked for many in this situation but you dont want to use too much. Also I have read of people using the power of the motor to break the bond. Just leave the grub screw out and run the truck. The power of the motor should break the bond between the pinion and the motor shaft.

heres an idea. if you have a two pieces of metal, place those between the pinon and the motor. follow? you know, follow this awesome little drawing... but tap the end lightly...

(Sorry in advanced, im sure this is bigger then what the forum rules allow, not computer savy to much when it comes to this) i also just posted the link if the mod's want to delete just the pic

oh that thing thats supporting the motor and the 2 pieces of metal is a vise, just incase someone wasnt sure...

im some wont approve of this, but it shouldnt have an affect on the motor since there is not a solid surface below the motor. but if you do try this, make sure you do it LIGHTLY. Good luck

I personally would use a C-clamp to hold the gear directly, that way you don't hit the vice underneath.

you could do that, but with the vice, it is mounted to a solid surface. it would be like trying to hammer a nail in a board that you are hold, the impact of the hammer would be too great for you to be able to hold in one place. just put some towels underneath the vice, so if pinon gear comes off the motor wont impact on a hard surface.

You should be able to pry the pieces off if the pinion is cut in half.

Sounds like that pinion gear is really on there!
