    Identify My t-maxx

I picked up a T-maxx used. She needs alot of Work.

My questions is, How do I Identify the mode I have?

It has a 2.5 engine, I was told.

    Would the serial Number help?

If the transmission is black it is a 2.5 or older if it is gray it is more than likley 3.3 check the drive shafts if they are thick than it is a newer 3.3 if skinny older 3.3. I hope that helped.

+1, get some pictures and post them up. With the endless list of upgrades available it could have started life as one and then been upgraded to a newer version or with so much after market parts only the motor is traxxas.

Got clear photos from the top, bottom and sides. Also, I think the engine would have 3.3 molded into the block if it is a 3.3.

    Engine >

    2.5 - Silver cooling head.
2.5r - Blue cooling head and the side of the engine should say "TRX 2.5r"
3.3 - Blue cooling head and the side of the engine says "TRX 3.3"

    Tranny >

2.5 - Black with a large spur gear.
3.3 - Grey with a small spur gear.

If the tranny is black the truck is more then likely a T-Maxx 2.5 and the same goes for the grey tranny meaning it's a 3.3

    There are some other differences.

Do the axles have blue dust boots on them, or are they straight black and kinda of thin. Blue dust boots = 3.3 and 2.5r and straight black and kinda skinny = 2.5.

Now there is a SLIGHT chance you have a T-Maxx Pro .15 but unlikely.

Actually the side of the 2.5r engine says TRX 2.5 its the same crank case as the 2.5. Just to clear that up
