    smoke

my titan lost power, so I replaced it with a peak racing raven 17x2. a few day of running i noticed smoke. originally thinking i toasted the motor. after checking out the motor all seemed well. while runnin today it really started smokin. upon inspection the wires had melted.the esc has 14 guage wires on it. my motor had 16 or 18 guage on it. would that cause a bottle neck, super heating the smaller wires? if that be the case, could I change the wires to a heaver guage. if so would 12 be to big?

Did you change your gearing when you installed the 17-turn motor?

Isn't it amazing how that happens? It happens all the time around here.

I'm not sure if the wires could have melted by being only a few gauges smaller. But yes you can change them. Assuming they are connected to the end bell just like any other motor, just heat up the solder until it flows and the wires will disconnect. Then resolder some new ones.
12 would only be too big if it gets in the way.

Anyhow, since it seems that you aren't getting any help from the others except Slasher, I'll try to clear some stuff up. When you are working with wiring, it is like water through a pipe, too much water through a small pipe, and the pipe bursts. If you run a larger diameter pipe, then you shouldn't have a problem. 12 guage wire should be fine (it works for the VXL, I'd be surprised if that melted.)
Now go have some fun with your Slash!

thanx, Mr. Mukai. You`re correct. Slasher is the only one offering any real help (except you).
