THE Weight Management Thread by RedMan3

Hey guys, I was out yesterday with the girl (2+ hours at a hair salon makes me wander around a shopping center) and walked into a Goodwill. Thinking that i would find something, a "Diamond in the rough" so to speak, i luckily found a useful r/c tool. It is a chefmate scale that measures from 0-2kg. Bought it for $4. SCORE.

Well I am starting this thread so that you guys that are either racing, or going for 70mph will have something for your benefit from me. I will mass most any part versus another so that you can manage your weight of your jato.

Like say RPM arms vs the stock Trx arms. OR different tire/wheel combos to lessen rotational mass.

    Here is an example:

    Rear tire data:
    Jaco Foams- 88g
    Road Rages- 95g
    Anacondas-101g
    Alias- 106g
    Talon- 152g

NOTE: All tires are with "fresh" tread.

Make any requests, and ill see what i can do.

Finally, a very useful thread. The forum gives so much to most of us. I'm sure it feels really nice to give something back.

What about the stock 6061-T6 aluminum chassis vs the Titanium-Anodized 7075-T6 aluminum chassis (which is suppose to be 10% lighter then the stock chassis).

I have one of these scales as well. It was a great buy, even though I paid close to $30.

If anyone needs parts to be weighed that maybe RedMan doesnt have, I can weigh them.

    4 AA in the holder = 105g
    My Venom 6 volt = 102g

I am going to put RPM arms on my Jato now. I will weigh them also. I know RPM's weigh more, just note sure by how much.

Here's a few more things for you guys:

    -2.2" mounted foam tires = 63g each
-1/8 scale Ofna mounted foam tires = 70g each

-Stock arms: front = 14g each, rear = 19g each
-RPM arms: front = 19g each, rear = 21g each

RedMan, this really is an awesome thing you have offered to do.

Even though I don't race and am not really interested in the "weight game", I feel I should say thanks just for being such a great contributor to the cause.

I really hope the rest of the forum shows you the appreciation you deserve. Although I see that quite a few already have!

    Thanks again!!

Our stock arms are the same dude. My rpm arms, amazingly both came to 20g. I can take a picture of them on the scale if you really want me to prove it. But im assembling my car back together.

    here:

Honestly though... you have to consider that not all of the arms are the same.

yea thanks for taking the time to do all that. it will be used on here for a long time.

when you get it back together would you be so kind as to weigh the whole car with fuel and list the parts on your jato . that would be VERY VERY helpful. this way we have some idea of total mass. thanks for strippin your car down buy the way.

I added another few parts today and then I weighed my Jato. I did not have fuel, tires or a body on.

It weighed in at 3lbs 8.8oz like that.

With tires on it is a little over 4lbs.
