Hello,
Just come back to NZ for 6 weeks with some new parts off Ebay for my Emaxx, check out the strobe braces and UE Knucklehead towers.
All I need now is a reliable brushless system, I regret selling my old reliable Novak 6.5.
Cheers for now.

How often do you take your Maxx racing? Those braces look awesome and I've never seen any like them.![]()
Traxxas: Stampede, E Maxx
Losi: Muggy
Those braces were originally made by Strobe many years ago. It was discontinued until resurrected by Chris(sweetride4me) of the UE forum. I have 2 pairs of those and they are nice. He still sells them on ebay. Here's a link:

Brushless Kyosho ST RR

Those braces look like they'd really beef up that area!
So he makes those himself, I take it?
"Happiness depends upon ourselves." -Aristotle
I believe he mentioned having Strobe's 'blessing' to make them, so I guess he either has his own CNC facilities, or has a company make them for him using the design (option 1 being much cheaper I figure).
Just needs to get his hands on UE's designs now and start cranking out some of the rarer items he used to sell.

Your truck always has that "your look" if you know what I mean. I like it alot.
Those braces looks strong AND sweet. How well do they install? I think I'm gonna have to "get sum".![]()
Y-Town Competition Crawlers Team Driver
Simple installation- they bolt inplace of normal buklhead braces, then to the shocktower mounting screw posistions (upper). The rear skid has turnbuckle rod end braces, so you screw through them, through the rod ends, into the bulks, to tie it all together.

Sweet. I just sent him an email to see if they will fit FLM hybrids.

It was designed for the GA bulks or any stock bulks. It may fit some others but will need to be notched.

Thanks RC shocker for your comments,
I still love the old beast considering there are much better trucks out there at present. I was thinking about getting a Revo at one stage but I think I'll hang onto this one for a while.
I just love how my maxx has evolved over the years, its just a shame that companies like Unlimited engineering/Strobe/Bomb Proof products have decided to call it quits. I don't think I'll spend much more money on it any more.
For the mean time I'll resist the urge and change to truggy.

nice truck...i really like the chassis you have on there
Been there, done that.

I've tried to scarf up the last little bit of each. I have 4 or 5 sets of supershocks. I have a few strobe parts. And then I traded a 2.5 Revo roller of mine for a Bombproof/UE/Strobe roller. I have it almost completed now.![]()
But I'm not spending alot more money on my E-Maxx(98% complete)either. However, I have already talked to Chris and I imagine I will be getting the Strobe braces soon. They look HardCore....no pun intended.

That's not the same PL body from months ago is it?

Answer from Chris about FLM bulks:
"The rear fits perfect the front will need to be notched from the bottom, I have a pic showing the before and after if you'd like it, let me know your email and I can send it along.
Thanks

Got yours yet Mark ???![]()

I have those braces and New Era bulks, the rear fit perfect so did the front except the bottom 3rd holes are off. Id have to drill the new eras or the braces out and its plenty strong with the 2 upper sets
edit: btw he was trying to sell them for $120 on RCM so $60 off ebay is like a 50% off coupon

I would have never paid $120. Sounds like no one else did either.Originally Posted by jayjay283

HI Kiwi.
That is one of the nicest looking E-Maxx's If seen sofar!!!
I realy love that CF chassy, and those braces and towers, looks real hard core.
I also realy like the idea of it being a truggy, what is the changes that have to be made for a truggy, and is it still posible to put the big offroad tyres on and raise the suspention back for a good offroad monster truck bash without to much trouble.
Cheers man, and again, great looking truck.![]()
Far out it's been almost two years since my last post.
Found a new FLM chassis FLM10800 for the 3906 based E-maxx off stormer hobbies. Going to flick off the old Widemaxx arms for RPM Maxx 3.3/3903 Maxx Arms. And finally put together the revo slipper with my old Gmax single speed and 2mm hex key with the input shaft.
Ahh looking to finally put right my back burner -maxx project that has been on and off since 2006. Brushless wise I'll probably buy get a Hobbywing SC8 Esc and Castle-new 2200 for good 4s running.
Here is my e-maxx as it stands at the moment
THe carbon chassis and other associated bits for sale.

Well last day of my xmas holidays so back to work tomorrow..
Put my old 1/2 offset truggy wheels and it looks ridiculously square , will have to get a dremel and slightly work the FLM chassis so my UE mono blocks fit.
I've been out of the game for about 4 years now so trying to catch up on LIPO technology. Would be happy to have 40 - 45mph performance.
I'll order some bits next week to complete the truck and start looking at ordering electrics,
Ray

Forgot to mention in my last post that I replaced the 6 Spyder UE Supermaxx diff output drive cups with RC-Monster Traxxas outputs so I can run traxxas axles/sliders (3.3) or Summits in due course .
Did some filing on the FLM 10800 by the rear skid section of the braces , and mono block fits now .
Ordering some Maxx 3.3/3903 Emaxx RPM arms and new turnbuckles to suit, not far from completion - 6 years better late than never.

Update 26-01-13
My RPM True Tracks arrived this morning so managed to spare 30 minutes to install these bad boys. It's well documented that RPM True tracks can pull out from pillow balls and I recall reading a while back that someone removed the metal support collar from OEM Traxxas 3903 axle carriers. Well it appears they push on nicely with a vice, I wonder if RPM intended this all along.
Anyway should be fairly robust set up. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish reassembling my old 3906/Gorillamaxx Single speed with newer Maxx/Revo slipper clutch. I've redrilled a Revo input shaft a while back, just have to slide on the 3906 input pinion and find an old 2mm allen key to cut up and replace the roll pin.
Next instalment will be new screws, LST body posts, fit 3903 waterproof receiver box and some turn buckles for steering. I'm almost ready to decide what power plant I'm going to run. I think Castle 2200 Kv will be a safe bet and maybe HobbyWing SC8 OR Castle Monster 2.
I'm not sure whether I'll swing for the latter, I'm only looking at 4S for sensible running.

Cheers trax,
Thanks for the heads up. The big bores do alright for now. Not going to throw any more money on it after I get it going.

A nice polished dewalt would look nice in there. along with some chrome sleeving braid for the wires.
something like this, but the correct size. click And polished dewalt.
Makes it look shelf queen'ish but still very much useable.

Okay , took a bit longer today but I managed to cut a small section of an old 2mm allen key and file the edges tidy enough to replace the weak roll pin that used to hole the input gear.
Using a large vise I managed to push the hex in, albeit with a hammer as well. Should be a bullet proof combo (for 4s anyway)this G-maxx singlespeed gearbox and Revo slipper.
Back in 2006 I was running an Robinson racing double disc slipper and Novak HVMAXX and that slipped like crazy.
Oh Trax, I'm about brushless, Dewalts belong in power drills.![]()

ha ha i recycled, because i'm all about being good to the planet.
And am too tight too buy brushless.
I haven't done the roll pin mod but it is something i may do.

Each to their own. Brushed can be false economy as you're buying replacements where as brushless last a whole deal longer. Price wise you can get hobbywing setup for $150 - 180.

Depending on where abouts in Godzone you are that last part can be rather mandatory
btw - sweet sweet e-maxx! Just bought my first one and a week later am searching for parts after breaking stuff. If thats what fun costs though, im cool with that.
Do you do most of your purchases from eBay or is there a good online store i can get everything i need from?
Aucklander Alex.
Hi Random,
Welcome to my post. Well it's common knowledge that TraxxasNZ are ripoff merchants and they don't help the cause with "supporting your LBS" , as they are like 100 - 200% markup over ebay, even US hobby shop prices.
I generally go for Ebay or any hobby shop online on the web. For RPM you should get a full set of front and rears for less that $40 NZD after exhange rate. Or go for RPM True Track as they are a good option if you want get rid of the rear toe links. Kiwi dollar is strongest its ever been so online shopping is good.
I'm shopping for Lipos/Brushless setup probably in April after I come back from an overseas visit to Asia.
I wish you all the luck with your maxx build, think of it as a life sentence as you'll be spending $$ just trying to get is perfect like myself. I've been working on mine since 2006, and had a break between 2007 and midway 2012.
I'm in Wellington, despite my signature saying I'm in the UK (hence my break 2007 - 2009).
Regards

Hi all,
Been another 3 months since my last posting and little has been done to my maxx, however managed to score a Gorillamaxx single motor mount.
Just bought a house so brushless before mid year is looking doubtful...![]()
