switched the Titan out for the Orion 15T , 16/86 gearing , big difference , glad I did it .

Whats the Orion 15t? Do you have a link? I looked all over the place and couldn't find one. Is it a 540 or a 550 motor?
hows the motor heat?? wont it be running really hot? -Wes

I'd guess that they bought an Orion Formula Pro BB, but I suppose it could be a different one. The Orion motors are 540 sized.

its the Pro BB , Cooleo its the one you sent me a link to , 15T ...the Titan died on my Slash on my 3rd run , must have gotten a defective one , the motor heat on the Orion is a little higher than the Titan , but nothing to worry about , it is alot faster than the stock Titan , its smaller too . I'm running 16/86 with a 7 cell .

16/86 isnt the stok gearing for the slash right? and i just bought one of those too, are they still waterproof?
i have no idea what to put here...
19/86 is how they come geared from the factory.Originally Posted by REDlineRYNO

would you reccomend gearing the slash 16/86 or maybe 17/86 for a little more top speed?
i have no idea what to put here...
Smaller pinion gear (16 tooth over the 19 tooth stock) will give you more acceleration but less top speed. If you go to a larger pinion gear, then its less acceleration and more top speed. But the trade off, is more heat and less run time due to the higher amp draw. I think they did a good job with the stock gearing, but I am running 2s lipo.

yeah i know the gearing stuff and what affects what, but im not sure on how much it will affect it, so i think ill stay with the stock gearing and my orion pro bb for now, and later ill thin kabout changinf the pinion to a smaller tooth count

Depending on how many turns your motor has, you will probably have to gear down. I wouldn't run a 15-turn Formula BB with the stock gearing- that gearing would probably be too high.

well thats what ive been doing and it works fine.. but im thinking about gearing tp 16/86 or 17/86

16/86 on the Orion has great acceleration , it keeps up with my bandit vxl for
the first 10feet , a guy at the track was surprised how fast it was , if your not ready to go brushless its a great upgrade for $40 bucks , and it makes the Titan look silly

i have a vxl rustler than i converted from the xl-5, but i want to keep the slash brushed because its less money, its still waterproof, and its much easier than the brushless which is still a lot of fun
