    Worth it>?

Is the Stampede worth the investment ?? What aftermarket engines are most widely used in this truck?

I think that it is worth it because it is an extremely fun truck!

Many of the people that I see with different engines are running Traxxas 2.5's and 3.3's.

As long as the hassles of nitro don't get you down, the Nitro Stampede will be a great truck for you.

For engines, O.S. makes an .18-sized engine that will drop right in and give you plenty of power. If you use the Traxxas upgrade kit, a 2.5 or 2.5R would be a good engine for it. The 3.3 wouldn't be a bad engine for it, but it's so powerful that you'll probably have to weigh down the front and stock up on stub axles (as well as use steel output yokes).

    1. Yes, it is worth the price for a backyard basher truck.

    2. The traxxas 2.5R is,IMO, the best engine for the npede. 3.3 has too much power and the OS .18 has too much low-end.

I can tell you rom experience that the 3.3 is way to powerful for the nitro stampede but its fun to drive!!!!!

I never onwed a N. Pede, but they are worth it IMO. Compaired to the bigger Revo, and T-Maxx, the N. Pede is easier to clean/maintain after a bash. I'm still looking for one.

The Nitro Stampede is a bit different than the E-Stampede.

He was talking about durability. Almost all of the parts between the E-Stampede and the N-Stampede are different.

The Stampede is great because a terrible crash in one will cost at most $50, likely less. If you want to upgrade it, though, there aren'tn't a huge selection of hop ups available, but they are there.

I like it as much as the revo....as long as the exhaust is in the back... the truck stays pretty clean. Have a new Tmax...the new one that just came out....fun truck too but really gets messy with side exhaust getting oil all over the right rear side and body. Good thing I got a parts washer as I just wash it right off. If you don't have a parts washer...as most don't I would guess....has to be more harder for a clean up.

I like Pro-Line Masher 2000's or Moabs on RPM wheels (take your pick of wheel style).

IMHO... The 'pede is the best truck for the money out there as far as nitro is concerned.

It's tough, and reliable, especially if you are not bashing it like crazy. It can be upgrade to bash as well.

However, nitro is NOT for everyone. It's fun, and fast, and tends to cause more repair than electric IMHO.

So if you are prepared to maintain, repair, LEARN HOW TO TUNE, and spend $$$$ on nitro, by all means buy the pede.

But if you think you cannot get the hang of tuning, and don't feel like spending time bullet proofing (if you intend to bash) it, I would say go with the e-pede XL-5 as it has plenty of power, less issues long term, and just LOADS of fun.

Pop in a battery and GO!

    Just my .02cents

Also, I think the Nitro Pede is perfect because of the .15 engine. It's just enough power. When people upgrade to the 2.5, or 3.3, it's just too much IMHO, you are just asking for trouble.

It's not a question of will you break something, it's a question of you will break just about everything you can think of upgrading the motor on the Pede.

But again, that's just my .02cents.

Not if you get board with the stock .15. I went to a 2.5R and couldn't be happier. It is crazy fast! I think I can almost blast in into orbit if I has a ramp big enough.

    Well that's all cool man...

You have to pay the repair bills... not me.. LOL

I had (3) 2.5 T-Maxx trucks at one time, and that was about enough for me.

im in te process of building a 3.3 pede with jato arm conversion....all i need is to drop off one of my .15's to trade for a 3.3...ill probably put the 3.3 on my rusty (also has jato arms) and put the used 3.3 from it on my pede

i figure with the arms and all the weight transfered up front it should be pretty stable

after owning some truly fast cars and trucks im just not happy with the .15's anymore...i mean dont get me wrong, there extremely reliable mills...just not fast enough for my taste

I've had my N Pede for about 2 years now, and am still in love with it. I still use it about every 2nd day. It seems to go thru caster blocks more than any other part, but that may be due to my widening mod. (all 4 arms are rear arms) The .15 it came with was just fine, but after a year i needed more, so in went the 2.5r. It does 45 mph now, and i couldnt be happier. I really think that a 3.3 in it would just mean more down time, due to tranny and drive line repairs. IMO The N pede is well worth it, as long as you have the patience to learn how to tune her properly, and the skillz to handle your ride without wrecking. Thumbs up on the Nitro Stampede.

i have the 3.3 in my rusty (with the jato arms and turning settup) and have only went through 1 idler gear in 3 months with the slipper always all the way tight....with jato arms comes jato drive axles...so i think it would do great but you kinda have to do both mods at once

    I'd say not, IMO.
When you compare them with 4WD Losi LST2 or Savage X, you'll see how weak they are.
    Mine breaks all the time.

The Stampede is cheaper, of course.
2WD is a major problem on a dirt track as you have virtually no grip.
They are fine to run on grass and for 1st time RC nitro users.
Mine's being fixed up and retired.
A Savage X will be its replacement
