I could have yesterday when I bought it, but was so excited to find one, I totally forgot the new connectors...DOHHHH. I'll fix that soon enough. I did a makeshift connection to just test it out real quick, and it seems to be a very stable vehicle (duhhh, its a traxxas) but didnt want to put it to any tests till I get a proper connection.

Killer looks, Traxxas does it again! Is that velcro on the side nerf bars to attach to the body - and if so, did you do that or is that factory?

Yup, velcro and its from factory, very nice touch I thought. If your going to use the stock radio system, what was the most difficult thing to do?? Run that darned wire through the tube!!!! Well, traxxas even did that for you this go round.

    Channel 6 , more blue, freq # 27.255 MHZ
From initial run on road, I think Traxxas has a winner on their hands here. It handles great, and looks like the real thing when cornering and squats a bit under acceleration (although what ones dont). Steering is very smooth, and at full throw, has a really good turning radius. A bit unstable in reverse for more than a quick 3 point turn, or (I am guessing) a quick reset on the track. I did have to play a bit with reverse driving, doing 180's. All in all , so far its great, but the real test is on the track. One thing that may be of concern, is no guard on the steering servo. This may not be an issue unless you plan on thrashing it off road, but on a track, I dont see it being to much of a problem. The chassis brace (when looking at it from the side) does stick down a touch more, so I dont think if you get a bad landing on the crest of a jump, it will hurt it.

As I commented in another thread, the steering servo being exposed like that is probably the one thing I actually don't like about the Slash. I am probably going to try to build some type of cover for it at some point once I can get some hands on time with one.

As far as the reverse issues your explaining, even my Stampede acts like that. If you go straight reverse really quick, it has a tendency to start to wobble and almost flip over, so you have to be quick with anything you do while in reverse. I don't think I will have a problem considering I'm used to that.

I added a side shot pic for you so you can see how the braces does cover it a bit. I think if any damage happens to a bad landing (to the servo) it will also affect the brace. I have also though of putting a guard on, but then its another spot to potentially get hung up.

Probably sounds like a broken record, but the more I keep seeing of the Slash, the more I want one. It's just the business, and to think it's longer than a Revo .

Traxxas did their homework and smashed this one out of the park.

When I get to run it more, I will try to keep anyone that may be interested, informed. Less no one wants to hear it, and gets their own to find out for themselves :P

I got it to just mess around with, and wasnt sure about it at first, initially I didnt want one at all. Now that I have it, and have run it a bit, its a great little truck (little not being accurate...lol), especially for the $200 range.

Thanks Ice, the brace does seem to cover it a bit. I was more thinking about loose gravel or grass causing problems. Stuff getting kicked up at the servo linkage and what not, that sort of thing. Once I get my hands on a Slash I'll take a close look at it and possibly try to come up with a cheap and simple mod to build a Servo Shield of some sort.

Ya know, by looking at it, if you have a revo and did the single servo mod, that extra guard may come into play here.

Cover the wire with baby powder before you try to thread it. It'll go right through then.

Nice Slash by the way...I wish parts would become available so I can convert my Pede to its next incarnation.

I don't have a Revo, but now you have me curious of what you are talking about... Care to enlighten me a bit? What 'extra guard' would you be talking about?

It's HUGE!! Very long chassis and wheelbase. Some nice touches from Traxxas. The vecro on the nerf bars is something I might consider doing on other trucks. Tubing the aerial isn't too bad. It's just a case of remembering what worked last time

I noticed the numbers you put on the back of yours. Does it come with an assortment so you can add your own number? That would be very cool....

When I can hit a track, sure. Nothing fun about driving back and forth in the small yard, or on the street....lol And when I do get one, I will post it ASAP. but it will be in stock form, even the pinion that came on the truck (not the optional one). Our group is gonna be running bone stock for now.

I wonder how it would work for the Slash? It may stick down too far.

ok, so the revo guard wont work without cutting it out so much, that it wont really go much. Riptide, can you try it out with one of yours when and if your getting a slash? or anyone else for that matter. If we can find one thats manufactured already, that would be easier than fabricating it ourselves.

what I wouldn't give to have one of those out on the local mountain bike trails, especially the trails at the river. can you say "honey I shrunk the baja 1000 course?" hardpack, a few really nice berms, a jump or two, some looser soil, and even a bit of sand. then of course there is the trails at pocahontas state park, or deep run park. braze up a light bar for the roof, put some high intensity LEDs in light buckets on the light bar, put some more lights on the front bumper, go out to the trails at night, flick all the lights on at once, go down-trail a bit, then watch as it flows down the trail like Robby Gordon's rig, or Alan Pfluger's new IRS baja truck. oh, and try not to drool on yourself too much

Just an fyi to those who are threading radio antenna, put a drop of shock oil on the end of the tube you are going to be starting to feed the wire. Makes it pretty easy going.

I think it even says in the manual to use windex or glass cleaner. It does work and will evaporate fairly quickly.

The # decals come with the truck, 1-9 x 2. I cant wait till I can get it on a track, or even a larger dirt path or road.
