    New options and spare parts

This week I received some new options but above all new spare parts

Two new options : Tony's screws and Mugen Shock Oil #600 Weight (600 Cst = ~50 Wt). My E-Maxx will be soon heavier with my FLM chassis so I need thicker shock oil (I used 450 Cst before = ~37 Wt).

You noticed that I received the stock 3905 chassis, black Rit dye, stock chassis braces and hold downs battery... I bought these parts and two days after FLM released its alu 3905 chassis...
If I bend the FLM chassis the stock chassis will be ready to replace it immediately !

I also bought new stock bodies I will be obliged to dremel them a bit because Jamie from FLM said me that their alu chassis is "a little longer than the stock 3905".

Next step ? : FLM chassis with Novak battery trays of course !!!!!!

    Black Chassis V2

By waiting my FLM chassis, I play with the stock one...

As you can see I dyed & dremeled it so that I can install my Novak ESC in a different way (for appropriate wire position).

I dremeled two areas (in green) and drilled two holes (in yellow) :

And here is the result :

I hope I will receive my FLM chassis tomorrow

    Installation Review

Well, sorry all but the installation has been more difficult that I thought...

Before the purchase of the FLM chassis, I had asked FLM if the stock 3905steering bellcrank, center skid plate and receiver box fit their chassis. They answered me that they "will fit". It's totally FALSE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
    They don't fit !! :
    - I dremeled the chassis braces so that the servo horns don't bump into them.
    - I remove the receiver box and the center skid plate.

(FYI you can't use the stock center driveshafts because the stock front center driveshaft is too short and the rear center driveshaft is too big and rubs against the chassis. That's why FLM provides new driveshafts with their chassis of course)

I'm really disappointed by FLM 6 hours to install the chassis (8pm - 2am)

Second bad surprise : the Novak battery boxes aren't wide enough for my 6-cell Nimh batteries. But no problem if you use Lipo batteries. These boxes fit almost perfectly the FLM batterie trays, they are just a bit too wide (1-2mm !). I will find a solution to install them when I will buy Lipo batteries
For the moment I keep the FLM straps and I'm going to buy the Gorillamaxx straps.

    Other remarks :
    - The FLM chassis fits perfectly the transmission box, GA bulks and HCR skidplates (except for the two right screws between the rear skidplate and the chassis braces - I need to dremel a bit the two skidplate holes of these screws, it's not a big problem).
    - The FLM center driveshafts look strong (but you need fuel pipe or seal O-rings in the yokes to reduce looseness).
    - The FLM chassis is a bit longer than the stock one (2mm !). I don't need to dremel the body holes

Despite all the problems I encountered, I love this chassis But if the steering bellcrank system doesn't work (I didn't test it yet) or if the chassis braces bend due to my dremel work, I won't be so keen !!!!!

Currently I'm at work but this evening I will post lots of pics !!!! I was too tired yesterday evening to post pics sorry

I bought it here : http://www.addicted2rc.com/. 104$ + 10$ for international shipping charges (it's 2$ for those who live in the US).

Now the FLM chassis is available on RC-Monster website : http://www.rc-monster.com/fastlane.php.

Yes this chassis is sick, above all if you don't want a "waterproof" E-maxx (problem with stock receiver box), if you use one servo with your steering bellcrank system (problem with chassis braces with the stock system) and if you have a flat center skidplate (problem with the stock one)

I wouldn't have bought an Integy antenna mount. I know what you're thinking... how would a company be able to mess up an antenna mount? That's exactly what I thought when I bought a gold one for my Traxxas Bullet. I am not happy with it. I have had much better luck with my Duratrax aluminum antenna mounts. The Integy mount was too small for my antenna tube, so I wasn't able to screw down the retaining couple. I got it to work, but I wasn't happy.

    The problems :

    - The stock receiver box is too big so I removed it :

    - The servo horns rub against the chassis braces so I dremeled them :

    - The stock center skidplate rubs against the transmission box so I removed it :

    - I have to dremel the rear HCR skidplate :

    And now sweet pics :

Finally it seems that the battery strap system is effective I bought Gorillamaxx straps to be sure
Here is a pic with a 6-cell GP3300mAh battery and FLM straps :

I will test my new setup as soon as I will have resolved the problem with my 3PM receiver

Dude Could you do me a favor and measure the length of battery tray.
I.E. The MAX length of battery able to fit in there...

I want to run a 170mm lipo and that is 6.69", so could you help me determine if that will fit in there??

Thanks bud, and thanks for the link above, they must have just posted on RC monster, didnt see it monday...

    OH BTW, ITS LOOKS GOOD!!

I'll definitely would have gone with different servo arms than weakening the braces. just IMHO.

Does look good- I would contact FLM (or Mike, since he works closely with them on some stuff) and show them the pictures of the dremeling you had to do to make the seevo horns fit. My guess is they either hard the servos mounted with the mounting tabs above, rather than below the stock location. That, or they used a different horn with their servos to test it or something- there must be some reason why it wont fit without dremeling it.

jefierro : yes I know but I bought these two expensive Futaba servos not long ago so I want to use them, so I'm obliged to use the Traxxas 3905 steering bellcrank system !! Otherwise I will be obliged to buy one powerful servo... I'm fed up of spending money...
We will see if the chassis braces will resist !

Suicideneil : I contacted FLM about the problems I encountered. I'm waiting for their answer. I think FLM tested their chassis with a single servo system with a short servo horn which doesn't run against the chassis braces. I will contact Mike if FLM don't react.

Don't need to buy a hole new servo, just 2 horns (arms) like this one for futaba.

I use the ones that came with the towerpro MG995, this arms have a low profile that could just work without modifying the braces.
I use only one servo in my maxx with the FLM chassis, but plenty of room.

Let's hope that this doesn't turn into a problem.

    Thanks jefierro for the advice

If my steering system doesn't work (I have a problem with my radio so I can't test it !!! ) or if I bend the chassis braces, I will buy the Hitec HS-7955TG V2 Dig High Resolution HT Titanium Gear servo with this horn : http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...3&I=LXHGB3&P=K.

The boxes are firmly fixed on the chassis but I bought Gorillamaxx straps to prevent the batteries from sliding. I will install them here :
