    Question 8-cells?

The ESC is 16.8 volts, wich is to 7-cells run in series (8.4X8.4=16.8) So i was wondering if I could run two 8-cells in a series. The reason I ask is that the old E-maxx was 14.4 volts, which is two 6-cells run in series, but you could still run to 7-cells in a series, so whats up? Thanks for all your help in asdvanced!

The battery trays will not hold more than 7 cells each. Even if you could, the waterproof EVX2 is still limited to 14 cells. Running more than that risks cooking the ESC.

ok cool, so it takes the same amount of voltage as the 14.4, got it. Thanks

    EVX-2 can take 14cell nimh ~4600mah (16.8v) or 4s lipo (14.8) ~8000mah, or possibly a 5s2p a123 config (16.5) ~4600mah.

Top speed would be in favor of the a123 config, but run time would be about half of the lipo setup.
I would put the top speed of the lipo and nimh as very similar with the 14 cell setup just a touch faster with top end cells.
As noted first the lipo will be nearly double the up time *8k

Actually, the waterproof EVX can handle 18 nimh cells perfectly fine...but you need a external BEC. (yes I've done this before )

And yes, the power is insane!

I'll confirm the a123s. I run my EVX2 on 5s2p a123 all the time and it works great. Lots of power and runtime and quick charge times. Definitely not as much runtime as 8k lipos though for obvious reasons.

I had 2x7 cell SPC's in series (20V+!) and no way would the blue 16.8V EVX-2 arm. I tried 2 of them I had, and a yellow version also and none would arm. I discharged the 7 cell packs for an hour on my old Hobbyco 905 and they still would not arm. Then I tried the OLD orange version ESC (early non break version) and it would arm on full charge and it was a rocket. I made the 7 cells into 6 cells and everything flies! FYI.
