    Slash-- Race vehicle?

On further inspection of the Slash I see it is brushless ready and will except the Traxxas ball diff. I see a new class for racing at the local track!!

Yes, after finding even more pictures I see most of it is the same as all the other off road electrics. That makes it slightly less exciting for me, but if the price is reasonable I'll probably get one anyway.

A Slash class would definitely be great fun!

If I get one, hopefully I can talk some other people into getting them as well. Then I would be all set for some Slash racing action!

I actually like that the parts are similar to the parts used on the other vehicles. This means that there will already be replacement parts and upgrades for the Slash the day it comes out! That's a great selling point, in my opinion.

I think it would bring alot to racing actually. You can actually race closer without jumping tires, which adds to the action. Been looking for something like this for a long time, looks very promising. Traxxas is really starting to step it up.

wonder how long it'll be before someone gets a set of the Proline 2.2 Badlands crawler tires, reduces them enough to fit the wheel wells on this, puts some stiff foams in it, and goes racing and leaves everyone else in the dust? I can't really see Moabs getting that treatment, tho. you never hear about the 1/8 buggies and truggies and MTs dominating on certain tracks using moabs, do you?

I think it looks good to race with, and it's 1/10 scale.

does anyone know if it has rear toe-in? It looks big, but I bet without the HUGE lid on it, it would be like rusty or pede

Yep.It's basically all the same parts from all the way back to around '95.(SRT) But then again,I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Though,it would be nice to see an updated platform some year.

Some adjustability in rear toe would surely be a nice option! But,the way Mustang described the driftability through corners,I would guess that it's 0 like the Rustler/Stampede.Looks like the same trans cases so it's probably still got the same rear toe.

These would be great racing in a stock class for sure, a true blast and pretty inexpensive at that. I will say if you don't have a race track near you I don't see them being fun with that titan 12t. Sorry xl-5 owners but once you've run nitro or brushless it's painful going back to such low performing setups for bashing. So a VXL upgrade would be needed from second #1 for this thing, again IMO.

Again racing a bunch of buddies w/ the same stock setup would be a complete blast!

It has a little rear toe, If you look real close at the rear a-frame you'll see that it is a nitro a-frame.

It would be nice if it had nitro Rustler arms in the back.... 3 degrees of toe in. I've got a set on my Rustler, and wow does it help with traction. The only other thing you need to change when doing the Nitro a arm conversion in the back is the same length camber links as the front.

Just a note on the Rustler conversion: you must use traxxas arms, as the RPM arms only have one shock mount and it is on the wrong side. Eh, those are electric Rustler arms in the back.

I agree with what some people have said. It really would allow you to rub side to side with no wheel tangles and crashes. There's actually a really cool pic in the gallery of one leaning on the other. Great racing potential me thinks!!! I wish there was a track in my town.

Tyre wise, I guess any Stadium truck tyre shoud be OK. A set of Dirtworks would work well. Or Speed Paws on the back, and standard ribs on the front! Oh I can't wait now

It has the same transmission on the inside as the Rusty/Pede, if the part # matches for the tranny case then you can always slap on a FLM tranny in w/ 3 degree toe

Yeah, that $60 case is an option.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post. Using rear nitro arms require the use of front electric wheels on the back for the shallower offset.

FLM is either 1 or 4 deg rear toe. To make a Rusty comepte in a 1/10 scale class you need it. To run a stock spec class, everybody stays with the stock case so it keeps the price down and everybody has the same truck. I'm already working on this for my club. I can't wait to trade polycarb with these things. Only mods I want to allow would be Reciever (DSM would allow us to race 10 at a time) and shock oils. Keep everything else box stock, add a transponder and pic a spec pack. A 6 cell 3-4Kmah would be perfect. Keep it cheap and fun for everyone from a pro driver to a newb.

Why is everyone so excited about fender to fender ( body to body) racing. It's been that way everyweek for 25 years on R/C dirt oval tracks

Yes, and the Carpet Oval too. But most oval cars are done for the night if they get shell to shell 3+ feet in the air. Of course Traxxas doesn't appear to have added rudders and ailerons to the Slash, but that doesn't mean they won't be flying. Not hatin, just sayin its a dif kind of racing.

Yah, I am sure it would rock the oval, and maybe some small jumps and bumps, but I can't see it clearing a triple (or maybe even a double) but who knows, still looks sweet!

Way too heavy for oval. I was thinking a "scale" off road class.
