Oh and I would like to build my own nitro truck/monster truck, is this a smart idea, or would there be too much knowledge needed or would it be over my head.

    Thanks in advance

well it is a few miles an hour faster than the t-maxx but the t-maxx is fourwheel drive..It might be a pretty big leap to build one yourself but it just depends if you are pretty mechanically inclined..But you won't be able to build a stampede or t-maxx because traxxas only sells them ready to run..if you want to build them you will have to go to another brand...hope this helps

N.stampedeJustin, I don't think that you have a very good sense of speed at all. No pede will do 40-45 stock. And you're not going to know for sure unless u have a radar gun

40-45 is way too fast for a stock pede.

actually it does about 35 stock, I remember seeing that on the website, but mine does about 42 hopped up

Oh and you can get the stop speed w/o a radar gun, all you have to do is set up a speed trap

No way a stock stampede can do 40-45 mph. Try about 30-33 mph

    Cool

So where would you guys point me to get a good truck kit that will be reasonably priced and will allow me to upgrade and change things as needed, until I reach the "perfect" setup.

    Thumbs up

If you want to do upgrades I would say get a t-maxx..It costs a little more to start out but there are way more upgrades for it than the pede..Don't get me wrong the pede is a good truck and there are some upgrades just not as many as the T...On the other hand the T has more moving parts..four wheel drive, two speed tranny the means more stuff to go wrong.....I have a pede and I am happy with it...here is a pic.

    Exclamation

I think mine does about 37-40 tops, but I have a 20 tooth bell on it. I know they don't go 30-33 because that's the tmaxx's top speed and I know for sure they don't do no 45mhp. I got my carb. set where it doesn't bog down at top speed, and smokes a lot, but still runs top notch!

    the t-maxx goes 29,according to RCCA.the
stampede will go about 31-33.and a rustler will go 35-38.they all look like there going 45-50 BUT they are NOT.if you put a higher
tooth clutch bell like "the pitbull of r/c trucks" said, then you will be going alot faster, but with less accelaration.
    BYE have a good day

P>S>IM NOT SAYING A HOPPED UP ONE WONT GO 45
