    sweet brake upgrade!!

    Hello all you rusty beaters!

If your a little bit like me, you ride hard and brakes eventually wear down for everyone!

Here is an interesting upgrade I found while searching around at my LHS

It does requires very minor dremel work (about 2 minutes) to shave the center hole a bit though. But I think its worth it!

    It's the ADVANTAGE RACING fiberglass high-temp brake kit (for LOSI 8 / 8T )

    here are some pics :

That is a good upgrade. There is alot of other manufacturers brake disks that fit the Rustler. They have the same style ovalish hole. HPI, Kyosho, Ofna, Duratrax, ...
I have an HPI Nitro RS4 fiber rotor in my Rustler. The hole fits perfect. Its just a bit too thick. I filed it down thinner. Easy to do. Its an awesome brake upgrade for the Rustler. Modulation is awesome!
What did you have to dremel out on the Losi disk? Flat sides or round corners? I heard fiberglass also modulates good.

-What upper deck is that?, GPM? Post some more pics of your Rusty. Looks good!

I had to dremel a bit off the round corners. as for thickness, its just right. I was scared I would have to shave it down a bit or modify the calipers but
    nope, works pretty good.

You were right on the upper chassis deck, its a GPM. Its not too expensive if you get it off ebay (± 45 $) and it drastically changes the look of any rustler.
My first choice tho was the carbon fiber plate but they are hard to find on ebay and my budget wont let me buy it anywhere else!
(as if I'd find it at any of my LHS)

BTW any of you have trouble finding Rusty upgrades at Hobby shops??
seems to me when I bring my ride there, they appreciate the work but still
think it to be a dinosaur! People in québec are a bit more inclined towards LOSI and
AE as far as stadiums go. anyways, im rambling, so here are more pics :

BTW dont bother reminding me that the shell is beat up. its bruised and stratched but its still rock solid!

I'm not sure I understand that... did you hear/experience bad things with that type of air filter? because I
barelly just finished installing it and haven't used it yet (nor have I treated it with oil yet) so I don't know how it will run at all. anyone with input is welcome?!

Because it's not designed for Nitro R/C's it's a breather filter.

Anybody got pics of the spring upgrade that I hear so much about? I also remember reading about a mod with a spring to keep the brake from dragging when its off of break but cant find the post.

i heard that you could put a piece of fuel tubing between the brake calipers.

    o.p.

does that new brake disk decrease stopping distance, or does it just make it more consistent?
Don't worry, its a rental. It can take it...

I should have read a bit more before buying... but it wasn't so expensive so no matter.
I was already planning tho on putting a foam or Outerwears pre filter on there.
That would take care of the "fine particles" issue?!?
Because as far as air flow goes, my opinion is that it flows the same as a motor saver...
    Anybody else got some input?

Ya kno honestly these engine barely suck enough CFM's for an airfilter to become a bottleneck. Stick with stock or go Motorsaver in my opinion.

    From another post of mine:
Do NOT use the K&N air filters! K&N themselves said that their filters were never meant to be used on nitro engines! They let fine particles into your engine.
Next time, ask us before you upgrade.
