    Long Night Last Night

So Last night my two year old decided to throw a wrench into things and had a Febrile Seizure. After rushing him off to the Emergency room we have concluded that their isn't a known infection. Every test they did has come up normal and now are going to start looking into what else could have caused the seizure. Been on the net doing my research but so far I can't seem to find anything.

hey mav.........my brother got some kind of seizures when he was young! no history in the family of this! the doctors at the U of M could not find anything wrong with him! but we found out that when he would bang his head or i would bang it in horseplay then it would trigger it!! he was on some kind of seizure meds for a few years then he out grew it! this is real bizarre! also if your child spikes serious temps then he needs to be cooled down in a cold tub so that will reduce anymore seizure activity! seizure by high temp in children isnt uncommon either! good luck with this mav!!!!

My oldest son did this whenever his temp got over 101. He thankfully grew out of by age 9.
Some days it doesn't seem worth chewing through the restraints.

I had a couple seizuers when I was a child, they never found out what it was. I'm still here though 43 yrs later.

I hope they find it and it is nothing serious. I wish you and your family the best. Your son will be in our prayers.

That is scary man, I hope everything turns out well. I was an EMT for 6 years, I never thought twice about dealing with stuff like that in other people. Now that I have my own kid it freaks me out.

Well, The ER said that their wasn't a known cause for the sudden spike in his Temperature, and they wrote up his discharge papers as, Febrile seizure with Unkown Fever trigger.

So, Today we had a follow-up with his pediatrician. She looked him over for about 3 minutes and said that he has one of the worst ear infections she has seen all year. Well, IMHO that would explain a fever wouldn't it? She was steaming mad and called the ER while we were their to talk to someone about the ER Drs Misdiagnoses of one of her patients.

Either way all seems ok on the forefront ATM. Thank you all for your concerns and prayers.

    Mike

PS: I have never freaked out in those types of situations. Even with my own boys. My one son was smacked in the head w/ a High heal shoe by his cousin, Their was blood everywhere. Everyone in the house was freaking out. I stopped the bleeding, Cleaned him up and then checked it out and figured he needed a stitch or two. Got to the ER and they said who cleaned this. I said that i had, the Dr was like good work. We're just going to smear some bacitracin on it and your gtg. No stitches nothing. It seems that the way I had applied pressure had completely sealed the entire laceration right where it should have been, and they would have had to break it open again and then stitch it.

I just don't have that freak out bone in me it seems. It Causes a lot of distress between me and the family because "I Must not care about my kids or anyone for that matter, Because I don't show any emotion and get frustrated when everyone freaks out". I have only heard that about 200 times in the last 48 hours....

if you freak out it just makes thing much worst. so good for you. i am the same way if my blood/bones or someone else i just stop the bleeding or get a ride to the hospital. (if it an life or death then i will call 911 other wise it pointless.) do to lifestyle choices i have gotten allot of nasty cuts and broken bones.

well i hope this will never happen again.

    I'm glad to hear it's a mis-diagnosis.

And Mike,,, you non-frek out types are the ones who hold things together when need be. It's best to keep a cool head. Somebody has too.

I still bet you have a few more gray hairs even so over this one.
