    jato gear ratio-acceleration/top speed

    hallo friends

well. i orderd all the parts for my jato products......all the car go metal.new shocks.new tires.everting was changed
metal spur metal tranny metal hex and pivot also diff and dhaft of the diff.
but i have alittle q for you guys.i herd from you that the tm21 is to powerfull for my car so i decide to try somthing intresting......the original gears are 24 on bell and 54 on spur.....0.8m.....what happened if i go to cnc manufacturer and make a 44 spur gear? how that will affect my exeleration? the engine can handle that? or should i go insted on 26 bell 0.8 on 53 spur???? what will give me the combination between the acceleration (controlable ofcorse) and top speed like the trx 3.3 engine?
is there any calculation to that q? i realy want to use the power of the 21tm but i want alittle more conrolable acceleration.....offcorse i want more acceleration of the original trx.....mybe the power of the 21 will give me the opt to go up on the clutchbell to 26t.....i will get more top speed and control acceleration or mybe shuld i stay with the original bell with 24t and the spur go down from 54 to 53

there is not enough room for adjustment to slide the engine back to get the gears to even come close to meshing up together correctly with a 24t cb and 44t spur...here a chart of compatible gearing for the jato (optional traxxas 0.8 pitch jato gears)...

if you want better acceleration with less top end go larger on the spur or smaller on the cb...if you want more top speed lower the spur and keep the 24t cb...or another option is to use the revo gear mod or make some custom gears like jato75 did to achieve higher top speed...

    parts for revo gear mod:
    38t Traxxas (Revo) spur
    20t Robinson (Revo) cb
***note you can NOT mix jato gear with revo gears...the jato gears have a pitch of 0.8, and the revo gears have a pitch of 1.0...

or you can use jato75's custom gear mod and make your own...there is links for the parts he used to make them...Custom Gears Here!

there are no such gears for the jato...unless you custom make them...
jato parts list on tower.com...Traxxas Nitro Jato 3.3 RTR (<-- click!)...

edit: this would be only other option for gears, unless you custom make your own...
    Robinson Racing Combo's (<-- click!)...

    tnx alot guys

but all this options i konw.i see there is no chance to find a smaller spur gear well.....i go to cnc manufacturer to make me a spur gear.
but let me ask you guys one last thing?
if the 21tm is so strong in acceleration and little less in top speed.....what spur gear to make???? (24t clutchbell) mybe 46? 48? 42? mybe?
what will be the same gear ratio like i change the clutch bell to 26t? the ratio is 1t in bell and what? 4t in spur gear?
    1t bell= 4t spur?

like i said before...if you have a cnc machinist make you a 46, 48, or 42 spur...i don't think it will work...there may not be enough room between the engine and transmission to slide the engine back far enough to even get the cb and spur to even come close to touching each other...so the only options you have you already know...or you would have to have him make a larger cb too to get it to work...

edit: and yes i see two of the spurs you are thinking of having made are the same as the ones in the robinson setups...but i'm not completely sure those will mesh up correctly in the jato w/o having to do other mods to the truck...i don't recall anyone on her ever trying them out since i've been a member...so i guess you have to do some experimenting and let us know how things work out if you have some gears made...and if outcome is good may end up being the next new "hot mod"...

Assuming that the smallest and largest spur/pinion combos listed in the Jato chart represent the absolute min and max motor mount adjustment ranges, you can calculate the smallest spur that will fit.

Min adjustment using 54T/16T spur/pinion combo is 44.8mm/14.4mm, respectively. So, that means the space between the motor shaft and tranny shaft is 28.6mm (the loss of distance from the mesh, approx 1mm, is included). So, if using a 24T clutchbell, a 46T spur should work.

JATO75 made custom gears for his jato, I'd look that up here on the forums he had like 75+MPH on his jato! the OS.21 should be able to take it to another level I'd get it modded and gear it until it wont go any faster but that will cost a few stacks of ten thousand shiney pennies, and your LHS will never let you throught he door again if you actually pay in pennies
I memorized pi to 200 digits!
