Well i saw people cutting every other tread out, so what i did was cut every other tread out in the inside half and cut one out every 2 treads on the outer half. It rolls rough but it should throw everything outta its way

Would cutting the chevrons be better than just turning them around because I've heard that that works for sand.

I was thinking about the chevron tires. Would I need chains on them? This is my first winter with a truck so I am new to this whole snow tires thing. Any opinions on other snow tires out there? Please give me some ideas.

    Thanks.

there is a video on youtube with an emaxx with chains they definitely help cause he shows it without chains first. other wise i would think paddle tires would work good, but then they would just dig you into a hole when stuck but any tire would do that

make some studded tires out of the stock chevrons,I installed the smallest robertson screws from home depot. Put 2 in every rib on rear and 1 on every rib on front about 1/4 inch in from outside of tire.It makes winter fun and it took me 2 nights with an electric screwdriver to do,but what a difference in snow and hardpack ice.

Just was reading a previos post on the possibility of loosing screws at speed,I used these studded tires all last winter and lost 0 screws. The rpm that you use in winter is very low,not like dirt in summer. We only use 1/4 -1/2 throttle on snow--any more and your just spinning out of control.Hope this helps.
