flm tranny installation diagram or directions?

I have the main part of the tranny together of the FLM set, but the lower section that connects to the a-arms doesn't seem quite right.. the screws have beveled edges and the machined area does not ?? Anyone have some pics of this fully assembled or know a link to directions?

The screws need to pass through the chassis where it is beveled then through the arm mounts and then into the trans case.

The small pair on the left are for the motor, the 4 small in the back are to hold the plate to the tranny, those two lil pins I can see where they go but don't know why... that leaves 3 and 2 pairs of nuts other than the 4 longer beveled screws I have holding the 1degree mounts to the plate (see pic) ??? Something seems off

The beveled screws are refered to as flat head screws(FHS). Remove the 4 FHS from the arm mounts. Mount that small bracket to the bottom of the trans case. Next put the trans case on the chassis. The longer FHS are used now. Put the arm mounts in place and bolt the trans case to the chassis. The 2 small nuts go in the small notches where the shock tower mounts and 2 of the socket head cap screws(you have 3 for some reason) thread through the shock tower and into that nut. The larger nuts are maybe for the FLM dogbones maybe.

Ya this frustrating, this thing doesn't fit at all from what I can tell. The small plate when off the actual transmission fits, but as soon as it is together the darnn thing won't go in at all no matter what I do.

HELP if you can... Pics if you can

NOTICE IN THE ABOVE PICS THE BUMP OUT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TRANNY ON THE SIDE THAT FACES THE CAR <THAT IS NOT ON THE STOCK PART> ?? IS THIS THE WRONG TRANSMISSION?? FLM BONE ME??

If you are using the stock rustler chassis you need to take a dremel and make a notch for the bottom of the trans.

The tranny is fine... Not sure why FLM included the bump out on the front side of the tranny, but it's there. What I did was to use my dremel and trim out enough of the material from the chassis as needed to make the tranny fit in nicely. After accomplishing that, assemble the plate onto the tranny as Cuda-Maxx had specified and you are home free. Sometime is this hobby we need to do a little modifying and that's what this is...

Does anyone have pictures?? I'd love to see how much you cut away pls

PS I mod stuff all the time but when you buy a custom part that should be drop in, I expect drop in and not to have to butcher things up... just a little let down....

I don't have any pictures for you... so just start trimming away and test fit the tranny as you go. Eventually you wil get there.
I'm not sure why you think the tranny should just be a "drop-in" custom part. I suppose it would be if you had the FLM chassis... Does the website you purchased it from say it's a "drop-in" part?? Just askin...

the bump is there to actually improve on a area of the stock tranny. On the stock tranny there isn't a screw there, and also it's a point of flexing. Atleast on the 3 tranny cases that I purchased, all of them has a small gap there and you can easily push on the a-arm mounts and see that it flexes, and also it alows dirt to get into the chassis.

Even the lil holes don't line up for the first two motor mounts (the little ones) Any helpers ?? Any how too's or photo's complete tat are 'correct' Thanks

First... have you attached the bottom plate to the tranny?? It should be attached with four flat head screws. Once the bottom plate is attached place the tranny on the chassis and see if the holes line up... if not you may not have taken off enough material. When the wholes are lined up with the chassis you use the remaining four flat head screws to attach it. The four flat head screws attach the tranny to the chassis as well as the Arm mounts. Here's a pic of the bottom side. I tried taking some of the side view but they didn't turn out clear enough to help. If you need that I will try again.
