Ride Responsible and wear a helment and protective gear. just because your in dirt does not mean you CAN not get hurt. do not show off like wheelies and huge stunts until you Gain Riding Experience! think before you do.

i think your dirt bike has 5 gears, 1 down 4 up. let off clutch slowly take off pull in clutch pull gear shift up for 2nd gear and repeat as you go faster. learn how to control your new dirt bike. starting with learning breaking! remember the fornt break is a disc break if you lock it up to hard you will ENDO. so practice using the front break on take offs and stops. use rear break going into corners and also full stops.
Take Responsibility do not text and drive.

Shifting is something you will learn quickly, you shift by the sound of the bike. When you really get to know the bike you will have it down pat. Remember to lean into your turns, it may feel uncomfortable at first, but again with experience will come skill.

In most cases going uphill, speed is your friend. You need momentum to get to the top. I used to ride hills over 100ft almost straight up, quite the rush! Shifting on hills up or down really depends on the hill and type of surface. Most of the time you allow the engine to slow ya down via the correct gear. Like I said for the most part you just need to get out there and ride. And PLEASE ride with ALL the gear!!! It WILL save your life, kidney, shin, ankles, face, ECT.

Ya your bike should be one down 4 up. thats how most bikes are.
Indeed, lean nto the tunrs. the front tire assembly can turn clockwise and counterclockwise depending on where you want to go.. but thats for REALLY slow stuff..
    i mean slow..
use use it alittle when you lean but dont lean and swoosh them all the way around..
    clutch:
and by the way its the lever on the left..
and the lever on the right is front brake..
so for clutch you pull it in and release it everytime you shift.. note: EVERYTIME. It can jack up ur clutch and clutch basket if you dont use the clutch..
just pull it in fast. push down or shift up depending on where you want to go and what gear your in and once you have shifted, slowly release the clutch.
when your going fast enough you dont have to pull it slowly because then you will loose speed fast..
just for slow stuff dont pop the clutch. hillclibs depend on the terrain as already mentioned. if its sand theres no shifting will on the hill. only down..
do as that as a motive, bring is as much momentum as possible and lean middle. the farther back you go, ull have more traction the opposite for the farther forward you lean..
    again all the terrain..
if its hard packed, you could shift all the way up to 5th if u wanted to..
ide read up on the clutch if i were you. its hard to master right off the bat..
good luck! where do/will you ride?

    TLD=the best. But extremely expensive.

My best advise when at a atv/bike park, follow all the rules, be really nice, check behind u-if someone faster is behind u pull over, and take out what u brought(unless there is a garbage can)

as a side note when shifting, slightly let off the gas. If you have never ridden a dirt bike or a manual 4 wheeler, I would probably recommend a rider safety course. The shop you are getting it from may offer one, or know where the closest place is.

That would be a good idea, a 125 is a pretty big bike for a first bike. Be careful, there's going to be more power there than you imagine. I started out on a 50cc bike when I was 6, then moved to an 80cc, I didn't get on a 125 until I was 12 or so. Of course it was a two stroke, but the modern four strokes muster up a ton of torq...just use your head and take it slow at first.

Oh, yeah, have fun and welcome to the ranks of the two wheel riders.

definitely wear all safety gear. i rolled my ATV end over end a couple of years ago, hit the ground headfirst, and then slid on my side. the helmet probably saved my life, but the skin on my side was all ripped off. so i also suggest wearing a chest protector, and pant all the time. also don't buy a cheap helmet, you get what you payed for.

WEAR A HELMENT!! That's about the best anybody can tell you.
I used to have dirt bikes. My first one was a 1991 CR 125, then I got rid of it for a YZ 250. Man that thing was SICK!!! FMF pipe, jetted, bigger reeds. The whole 9 yards was done on the YZ 250. Dangerous fast!
    I'll miss you Jato :(

I have a yamaha 80 that was my first bike. Yeah that was a real good first bike it can wheelie in high 3rd gear. I still have it and it runs like a top. I now have a honda 125 too. It is stock but I took the airbox off.

I've only ever ridden a motor bike once. It was just like riding a mountain bike, without the pedalling!!! Going up and down hills it's all about where your body weight is. If your going down, you want to shift your backside backover the rear wheel. Going up, you want to stop the front end coming up, but on the other hand, you don't want to lose traction on the rear wheel I guess.

Then again, I'm not a biker, but I think what I've said is correct.

i ride quad and i never shift weight on a hill. if the front wheels pull up, i let up on the throttle. i don't spin because my tires have tons of grip when i stay centered on the seat.

Yeah, I thought it was a little strange too to start off with a bike that big, but he'll either learn quickly or it'll beat the snot out of him and be up for sale in a couple of weeks. I hope he takes our advice and gets some training before going out full bore. It's a four stroke 125, so it won't be as peppy as a two stroke, but that's still a lot of bike for a beginner.

everyone i know start out with 125s. revoracer how old are you, how tall, weight? for me these all determine the size of a bike. i started out with a 250 and 400 atv in 5th grade. now i'm in 11th and still riding the same atv's.

    indeed.
my first atv was a yamaha blaster that me and my dad made aswsome! but still just not enough power..
then a 03 LTZ400 thats been ported to 443 cc's with rpocircuit pipes, elka triple rate, fulladjustable shocks and man the list is long.. but the main idea here is that thats right when i got my KX250 dirtbike that had pipes, filter, and thats just about it.. the suspension department had kayaba that were re bored and everything but i jumped onto a KX250 (two stroke) dirtbike with no regrets and only smiles from all the wheelies.. and jumpage capabilities!
I wouldnt have been able to ride it if i wern't so tall so thats alot right there..
    that and weight..
145 pounds to 160 is a 250 size dirtbike as according to the twmx guide..
    165 to 180 is 450 size dirtbikes..
and remember that all these readings dont mean anything of your that good. but if your new, ide follow them thouroly..
and also, those are in four stroke sizes..
for all those that dont know..
    a 250 cc fourstroke dirtbike races in a class called a 250..
they vs. two stroke 125cc's.. so you see how 2 strokes are more powerful. but in later years, supercross has had nothing but the most highperformance technology available.. which means highly modified, specifically times exhaust ported four stroke machines. nobody races 250cc two strokes anymore in supercross at least. but in GNCC off road racing they race 2 strokes mainly due to their lightness..
a 250cc two stroke races agaisnt a 450 four stroke.. in the class called 450..
you will hear "450 main" alot if you ever race. which is just the top qualifiers for that class.
back to my first dirtbike is that i jumped on that machine with knowledge of what a clutch is lol, but no with mastery of the clutch and gears and shifting, rpm ranges and all. It combined alot of my 200cc two stroke yamaha blaster quad and the power of my modded ltz400(i got and 03 because they come with more compression, look it up) and it was easy for me.
leaning tuns was wierd at first but now its super easy.. just like how shifting and clutch work will be for you..
this is reallly long but just trying to help clarify things for you..

final results for revo racer would have to be take lessons or else your ganna pop the clutch on the most sticky stuff available and man just take them..
    get a good helmet..
    ask yourself:
How Much Is Your Head Worth?
thats why i run TLD's helmets and gearing and chestprotector. get some nice boots..
seeing as how you are still probably going to grow some more jacking up your ankles will totally mess you up. my friend just shattered his ankle. the doctor told him that it was like a lil cherry grenade went off in his ankle joint.. he has had mass pins and surgery and painkillers and he only regrets it. SDo ide get SiDi boots if i were you. or alpinestars or idk up to. i only go with those two..

Maintain it!!! Make sure everything works properly, I took my race bike(CR250) out last year just to practice, throttle stuck wide open on the face of a double. I ended up with bruised ribs, 2 screws in my lower leg and a rebuilt knee. That is how I got into rc. No more bikes for another year, the wreck was a year ago. My bike was always maintained, I raced/rode for 14 yrs, since I was 12, stuff just happens. Don't think you'll never get hurt. Have fun.

man he messed it up BAD!
and ya dont think you cant get hurt.. thats not true! except on sand going rllly slow..
but then you never know.. you could fall, and fall, and maybe tumble off a cliff, then fall into a trash truck which will deposite you in a random locations with wolves all around you and that garbage..

congrats on the bike! I love my KTM, I'm a buyist pig we taught my friend to ride today, he loved it. my other friend got a ttr230 earlier this year, I hope he gets to be faster than he is or he will never be satisfied with himself. the 125 you're getting is like the ttr 125 we have, you shouldnt have to worry too much about killing your self. learning to ride will be a bit confusing, but as you go riding more you will learn to shift and use the clutch like nature, so try to go as often as you can to learn. my concern with that bike is our TTR's suspension is WAY soft, so you might need to stiffen it. hope you get off the ground soon!

I think that a DRZ-125 is a four stroke. http://www.suzukicycles.com/products...7/Default.aspx Not sure if that is the exact one, there are four different models. Or are you talking about a RM125? Either way riding gear as already stated is most important. If money is an not an object than TLD is fine, if not, any helmet that is Snell & DOT aproved is fine.
So many upgrades, so little money
