Finally got my MM5700 need more runtime!

Lots of power and much harder landings but I am only getting 5-7 Min max. I CANNOT afford LIPOs right now so I have to stick with NiMH :

The setup is:
Cheap Venom 3000
MM5700 settings are stock except minimum timing.
18/90 gearing.
Deans all around.

Will lowering the pinion really increase the runtime? Should I get a better NiMH battery? LIPOs may be in the distant future. What are the run/chargetimes?

Better NiMH battries will definately give you better run time.

I run the cheapo venom 3000 as well. And yes going to a lower pinion will give you some more run time.

My charge time with my lithium is about 15 minutes. Actually less, cause the balancing adds a bit too it.

15 Min charge is awsome. How much run time. What is the capacity??

Capacity...not much 2300. 4600 putting two in parallel. Runtime...I'm clueless, since I run so many gear ratios.

The IB4200 pack is supposed to be great but its expensive. You can find cheaper batterys. I would look for a GP3300 or 3700 or something. Get one or 2 of those. Or If you really want to save cash then get some tenergy batteries and rebuild them

I'm currently geared the same as you, and I get as much as 20 minutes out of a GP 3300 pack. I think your problem lies in the cheap cells. Get yourself an IB, GP, or EP pack and you should be fine. Some people even go with Tenergy packs, but you have to rebuild those to really make them worth it.

Shoot. I wouldn't even do that. I know some people have great experience with Tenergy, but I don't. Not with a Mamba, they just can't supply. Mine regularly get up to 170*. I can keep them away from 210+ (like I had once, and killed cells) but they still get way too hot. I'm not expecting them to live much longer. As long as they don't explode or burn.. then whatever.

Its the batteries. I had all old crap batteries and venoms. Went out and bought a couple quality gp3300 packs and ib 4200 mah packs and it has like 15-20 run time.

Yeah, I recently got a gp3300 pack for free because this kid came in the store and messed up one of the cars we had laying around... and it's not really fixable... but my work gave it to me and the gp3300 that was in it.

As soon as I solder those darn deans on my Rusty I'm testing out the gp3300.

Fantastic advice. My Venoms have been beaten on since I had my Titans. I will try out a quality 3300 and see ho that goes. I hope to upgrade to lipos if the prices drop. Can lipos be charged at a faster rate than NIMH?
