i would pass on the steel ones, instead of those breaking you'll be stripping tranny gears and it is NOT fun to replace those.

your best bet for getting the most out of the revo gears is 38 spur and 20 clutch

+1 ...38/20 seems to give the best results.

well, you could be meshing it wrong. But the 30/28 is also a good combo.

Ok guys im doing something wrong (as usual).I'm new to the jato scene.Race a revo now and wanted some of the fun the gas truck guys were having.I am trying to mesh up 38/20 revo gears with no luck.I have removed the engine mount risers (using bump box),and still i can just get the gears to touch.Seems the engine will not go back far enough to mesh up right. If i leave the engine risers in it makes it worse causing the engine mount screws to hit the tranny case. This is my first jato build,so it was a 2.5 roller to start with but has been upgraded with new chassis and alot of other stuff, but am still using the tranny out of the 2.5.Is there a difference in the 2.5 and 3.3 trans.?Thanks for any help guys going to try to take it for the first run at the track this weekend.

there is no difference between the 2.5 and 3.3 transmission....i think it's not meshing because you got the wrong pitch gear. I think you have a .8 pitch 20t and you need a 1.0 pitch....here:

there is a small pitch difference between the revo and the jato....like 2mm...it's small, but makes a big difference.

that's what's happened everytime someone couldn't make it fit in my experience.

let us know how it goes.

are you sure ?? I don't think a 30t spur exists, and are you sure you're not mistaking it for a 38t?

the reason you may be going thru stock spur gears are loose engine to motor mount bolts, a slightly bent chassis or chassis flex or cb. bearings that are worn and possible incotect gear mesh, get in to the habbit of checking the mesh every time you run a few tanks, chassis upgrade will also prevent this.

I was trying both (revo) spur and CB.I have resorted back to (jato)54/24 so i can give it it's first run this weekend.I will look into it further this week to see what im doing wrong in hopes of getting it straightned out. Thanks for the help guys.
