just got my 'Tec in, got the mechanical version, removed that installed Mamba Max Esc. and off i went. THIS THING IS AWSOME , i find it funner to drive than my mambafied 'pede, and E-Maxx. especially in the garage this thing drifts like crazy. well im off to instal a 17X2, if im not satisfied with speed, im pretty sure you guys know wats coming. woohoo

Tower Hobbies or what? How much did you pay for the mechanical version? I bought a TC4 RTR for $225 and was thinking about a 4-tec also. Sounds like its worth it. Any plans on racing it?

I'm getting into the R.C. game and already been introduced to the Traxxas 4-tec and the jato and both are hott! My partna has the 4-tec and his buddy has the jato and the jato got smoked on a stretch . The jato was leaned-out and all 100% But that 4-tec is mean with it and a eye opener. Much Love 4 both. However I could use some sound advise. If you can e-mail me some holla I am interested.
    See you @ the finish-line!

Have you taken the car out a few times yet?
My buddy put the MambaMax setup with the 5700 motor(I think on the motor) and the front and rear diffs blew out, after about 30-40 minutes of run time. I have the same setup, sittin in my HPI Pro2, but I am waiting on the battery, and have yet to run it. Due to parts and the nature of BL, I thought about not even running the HPI and getting a 4tec, if someone else has been able to make them last a reasonable amount of time.

    Thanks

He was probably hard on the throttle, with the mamba max esc, you can program it, for it wont recieve full pwer, until the car is already moving, with that being done im sure ur diffs will last you a very long time. Remember, its Proportional.

Since I got mine last year I upgraded to a duratrax intellispeed 12 turn esc, a reedy flash 13 turn, full bearings throughout, and the sway bar kit. My gearing changes by the hour but I want to know what gearing everyone else has for both drifting and racing. Never had a prob with the diffs even though I have two sets. Ones glued for drifting and the others stock.
