    Just got my Revo gears....

I got 38t spur and 19t clutch. Do these just bolt right onto my Jato?

Ok thanks. Also, how will my Jato drive with the Revo gears compared to stock? Faster off the line and higher top end? How will it perform and drive?

It's really not that complicated. Look at the base ring of the plug. That is what your piston head will look like (more or less). You want it a nice coffee/light brown color.

    Black=Lean
    Silver/clean=rich

You must tune, then start with a new plug and run through a couple tanks to really be able to tell. But normally, if it's running good, with good temps and good smoke, you shouldn't have to worry about it.

Got them installed. Hopefully it won't rain tomorrow and I can get a few tanks through it.

jato25n, i am not tring to hijack your thread but it is on the same subject.

i just got a jato roller, and i took the motor off of my revo to give it a try.
I could not get the motor to slide over enough to hit the spur gear.

I took the revo spur and mounted it to the jato slipperclutch, and ther ewas a gap of about 1/16 of a inch between the cb and the spur.

I just bought a motor and parts (just waiting on shipping) but I thought that I would do this so I could drive it..

What is wrong? Do i need a different Revo spur gear? What one do i need?
    thanks

Yeah revo, you need to use both the REVO CB and SG if you want to run REVO gears.

if they are both revo gears they should work, but Mighty is right...don't try to mix the 2....the revo pitch is 1.0 the jato is .8.

i had the revo spur on the jato slipper, and the revo clutch bell still on the motor.

the motor adjustment (little slots where you adjust the spur mesh) was all the way over and there was still the gap, i could spin the cb and it was not even tuching the spur.

check your top engine mount bolts and make sure they are seated right...that can throw off alignment....but this is a combo that MANY people run here.are you still runnuing the EZ start??...is the grounded wire preventing it from reaching?

i still have the ez start, lol it is funny because i am looking at it and i forgot to connect the yellow wire so that was not the problem.. i will check the top mounting bolts tomorrow, i have already locked up the shop, and the tools are in there.

    ok jato75..

i tried it again, at first i thought that the flywheel was hitting the clutch guard (part # 5592) so i remove it,

was not the problem, so i put it back on.

what else could the problem be?
    thanks

are you POSITIVE they are the same pitch??

I've had people buy the wrong cb and swear it was the right one, and when i saw it, it was sure enough the wrong pitch....

can you take a few photos of the truck so i can see the gears and from different angles?
i'd probably be more likely to be able to tell you then.

it is a direct drop in...i've been looking over all of my jatos and can't figure out why it's not reaching....wait.....

is your pipe tightened to the hangar in the front to the point that when you try to move your engine, it's keeping it from reaching???

nope, no pipe is not even mounted.. lol

ok, i took the little motor mount spacers off because it looks like the tabs on the motor (where the mounting screws go in) was hitting the tranny.. then the clutch bell was hitting th chassis... so it looks like that is going to be the problem.. can you post or email me a picture of the rear motor mount with the motor mounted on the truck.. i will draw on it and send it back to you so you can see what is hitting.

    here's my photobucket link:

    http://s57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/jato75/

i took 8 pics of all different angles...i hope they help. it's just hard to get really close up on the engine because the closer i get, the more out of focus the camera seems to get.

    anyway, let me know.

    a couple of questions...

    1. did you get your jato used?

    2. does it have the u shaped motor mount that fits under the transmission? I say that because you said your cb hit the chassis and mine never did unless i was running a 38t without a modded chassis.?

yes it was a 2.5 roller, the old owner said that it had 8 tanks of fuel in it, i could not believe it because ther is not a nick, scratch, or mark on this thing..

and yes, it has the stock u shaped mount on it.

the only other thing i can tell you to do is take the EZ start and all of that equipment off, take the engine out, the motor mount, remove the transmission and start over with a rebuild...something is not aligning, and i can't figure out what it is.

sorry man....it's rare, but i'm completely out of ideas...i'm stumped.
