    Model Master Custom Lacquer System Paints

    As some of the people on hte Pede and Rusty/Bandit forums know, I've painted a couple bodies with the Model Master lacquer paints for model cars to see how well they hold up. Well I finally had the chance to go out and beat up in the XL-5 Rustler who's Nitro Rusty Crowd Pleezer I painted with the black basecoat paint (it's a 2-part basecoat/clearcoat type paint) at a city owned skate park across town from me. After several flights of 5 feet or more in altitude, a few oopses (almost flew the truck into myself at one point ), and a few wrecks, I can honestly say the paint held up well. Here's a few pics;

    This was taken when I got it home, there's a few scratches and that's it

    This is the first impact I had, I think it took the galvinization (sp?) off the grind bar!

    It also slid on the roof and "tailgate" several times, infact the tailgate was the only place I could find any cracking in the paint!

    See what I mean......

    There was only 1 spot where there was much paint loss, the hood right above the shock caps, mainly from too many oops landings, but a little electrical tape in those spots should help that problem!

    I used them myself on my TMaxx, looked great, but the first flex or bump and the paint started cracking an flaking off. I was really bummed out, coz it looked great. Hopefully you will have better luck, but I will be using paints for Lexan from now on.
