    Knock off 550 motors?

Well guys, I fried one of my titans. I was looking around for some new motors, and these showed up: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Motors-550-Siz...QQcmdZViewItem

They look an awful lot like titans, I wonder if they are the same, just without the traxxas tag? They say they will fit, and work with 14.4 volts.

Anyone tried these? Feedback? It would be about $30 cheaper overall than buying titans.

    There is also these:

Let me know what you guys think, THANKS!

I put a pair of these http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...DC_MOTOR_.html in my truck a couple weeks ago and they are working good, have a little more power than the titans. The motors have the same outside demensions as the titans. They have fast shipping too.

Hey, thanks for the link! How did you drill the mounting holes?

Those are the exact same ones I'm running in my son's E-Maxx & they're doing great! If you get them, make sure you solder the capacitors the way they tell you to.

I bookmarked that page... Maybe I'll give them a shot. You can't really beat the price, and if they fry, who cares?

I didn't have to drill any holes, just solder on the power leads and capacitors, the mounting holes line right up and you use the screws from the titans.

Those are probably just those cheap Johnson motors that were bought up a while back. If I recall correctly, they work fairly well. Try searching here for Johnson motor and see what you come up with.

I think when I smoke the current set and the extra set of Titans that came with my E, I might give those a try. If they don't work, it's only like 10 bucks...

    Allelectronics

I bought some motors from them. I got 4 of those 6-12v ones and fried 2. They are great if your running 6 cell packs but when you run them on 7 cells they like to burn up. I found that the 3-24v motors that they offer are the best all around. And they scream on 7cells. Here is the link http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...3-24_VDC_.html
My buddy has had them in his maxx for about a month. He runs that thing ragged and hasn't burnt one up yet.

Did YOU install capacitors on the 6-12vdc ones? What ones? Are the other ones a direct drop-in?

The shafts on the 3-24v motors aren't too short? They look kind of short to me. If not, then maybe I'll get some of those.

Yes! finally someone who has gone the same route I chose! Don't ya just love the over-abundance of torque?! I run KD775's and was able to source some similar motors from a local Kirby dealer for $15 each, the KD's are 21 turn (Ithink) and the cheap ones are 27turn. I bought them as back-ups, but they may go into my daughter's E-Maxx, if I ever get it done!

So you like the KD 775's? Do you need to have any mods done to the truck? Drivetrain? Transmission? Motor mount? EVX? I'm just curious, I may want to try that one day.

Well I ordered my motors for $3.75 a piece and here they are. Others say that theirs were slightly longer than titans, maybe the previous owner of my emaxx bought these also? They seem almost the exact same.

    Same motors?

Cool! Have you had a chance to compare them to the Titans?

While were on the subject, I just thought I'd share that I found these motors while browsing eBay. That shaft looks a little short, but at a buck a piece they might be worth a shot.

Good find, those look like the motors I got.

I've only drove inside, rained yesterday and is raining now. Maybe when I get off of work.

I got a quote for shipping on one of those motors, and it was $8.75... Go figure. I couldn't get a quote for more than one, the option to change the amount of the item was non-existant.
