    Spelling bee

Boy where did everyone on here learn to spell? I don't know everything, but the spelling on all these post is terrible. I am not trying to make anyone mad here, but anyone who can use the computer should be able to spell some. If you are not sure about the spelling get a dictionary or at least spell check it. It is one thing to fat finger the keys (hit two at a time), but when it is spelled the same way over and over that is sad. What ever happened to the good old spelling test anyway? My daughter is in the 6th grade and she never has spelling words.

I am not being mean. I just think when people are out in the working world they should know how to spell. If you are not working now you will be one day and there is no time like the present to learn how to spell.

I make most mistakes from error, I can't type without looking at the keys but I know where they are pretty good and if I post a bunch I start going too fast and might hit a wrong key

I just ask because it takes me for ever to figure out what people are trying to say. I don't mean no harm. For sure I don't imply that I am perfect. There was only one perfect person on earth. That was about 2007 years ago.

Uh, forever is one word, not two.

    I don't mean no harm.
    How about using correct grammar?
    I believe you meant:
    I don't mean any harm.

If you're going to create a thread to criticize others, it's best not to make similar mistakes yourself, especially in the same thread.

I didn't say that I was perfect, but atleast you know what I am trying to say when you read my post. There are many that you can not do that too. Thanks Maddoughboy for the correction.

In yours and many others opinions sir, but not all of us share that opinion/belief.

Those of the world that are Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Pagan, etc. do not share that belief and I personally do not believe this is the correct forum to talk about religious beliefs. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I was going to comment on the grammar of the one complaining about spelling but was beat to the punch. Spelling errors are common on web forums and will continue to be that way until forum software incorporates a spell checker.

Also bear in mind that not everyone using this forum is an American citizen and for a few English is not their first language. Try living in Miami as a non Spanish speaker.... I often feel as I live in a foriegn country. I'll walk into a gas station to ask directions and get scowled at from the store clerk because I do not speak Spanish.

My thoughts exactly. I feel very close to my fellow RC'ers and this topic was brought up when my hubby (CWRNITRO) posted in a hurried/excited manner the other night, so THAT is why I got a bit bucky when I saw this post. I hope we can call a truce and peace to all. And to BGFireman-I apologize for the post over at MarketPlace....as I explained above, it just offended me and I reacted. Peace Out.

You implied your perfection by criticizing others imperfections. We are all just regular people, if you don't understand something someone is saying, just ask! Nobody's bitten me (yet). LOL

Well everytime a thread like this comes into action, every one gets upset. Some people dont know how to spell. The people who have been here longer except it, so if they dont mind then why should you?> The Mods And Marshals and "Lord RAzer" DOnt make threads saying TYPE BETTER! Ive seen threads where you couldnt read a single word, But I dont answer it. Ive made SERVRAL THREADS WHERE YOU COULDNT READ A SINGLE WORD!!!!!!!! But Thats How I Am! lOL!!!!

Its like The Song says, I AM Not Perfect And I DOnt Claim To BE, IF TAHts What you Wanted Then Im SorRY.

I have to agree with the OP, with certain qualifications...

I think that the spelling online today is atrocious, and I'm sure its not just because there are that many people incapable of spelling, but because they don't care. The odd error or two doesn't bother me, what bugs me are the posts so loaded with errors that you can't tell what they're trying to say.

another spelling thread Will they ever end? As someone already stated, English may not be the person's first language or may not have a higher education or could be a 8 yr old kid trying to find information about his truck or someone that just does not know how to type.

The next time anyone brings up another spelling thread then I am going to ask them to spell a word that means "an inherited disorder that closely simulates the symptoms, but not the consequences of pseudohypoparathyroidism, thus it has mild or no manifestations of hypoparathyroidism" which the word is Pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism or spell floccinaucinihilipilification without looking at this thread or looking it up in a dictionary. Can I really spell those words? Yes. Do I spell every word correctly? pssh, not a chance as a matter of fact eveytime I typed "spell" I wanted to type "speel" until I correct myself.

As I stated in the past as I am sure I will be posting it in the future. This is a forum not english class.

Thanks enforcer, I was not trying to make anyone mad, but it would be easier to understand what people are asking if you could read what they were typing. The occasional mistake is one thing, but when it is misspelled over and over in all the post someone has got to realize it's wrong. I realize that some people are from out of the country and give them the benefit of a doubt, but those that live here in the US should have some kind of education. If not it is there to be had. My six year old is learning how to read and I honestly think she could do better at spelling and putting together sentences than some on here do. I just want to encourage everyone to do there best one day they may need it for something much more important than a forum on the internet.

Here's my take, and I'm closing the thread before some of you earn yourselves warning points.

The problem on the board is not people who are genuinely poor spellers - it's people who don't take the time to even look at their post before hitting "Submit Reply" as quickly as possible. Giving it a brief glance-through and thinking "Oh, 'idonm't know waht is hapenning' isn't right, let me take five seconds to fix it" isn't much of a hassle.

Poor spelling is fine, but at least have the courtesy and respect for other posters to make what you say legible. Don't expect anyone to take the time to decipher your question if it's illegible.
Six in a row makes it go.
