Need to dissect... What's easiest way?

I recently replaced the spur gear on my E-Maxx to try and remedy a speed problem... look at the Problematic E-Maxx thread. Anyway, replacing the spur gear didn't work. I think it has something to do with the transfer case, but I can't figure out the easiest way to do that... Right now it looks like I have to disassemble the chassis to get at the case... Can someone give me some ideas?
    Thanks,

To take the tranny out of the truck you disconnect everything from the tranny, then there are 8 screws on the bottom of your truck, remove those and the tranny should slide straight up and out.
Thats a bumper? I thought it was a wheelie bar!

OK.. done.. i just did that and found that none of the gears are stripped, etc etc... when I reassemble it, im gonna make sure that the clutch is as tight as possible, as i think that might have been the problem. The question i had was how to clean/lubricate; the car has dust in places i didn't know existed. Could i just wipe it down with a wet cloth? and then about the gearbox.. should I lube it or leave it alone? And one more thing... do I really need bushing oil or could i just use tri-flow? (it's a light oil commonly used as a bike lubricant).
    Thanks,

you could use slick zero transmission lube

also 3-n-1 oil should be fine. its what i use.

Well, I've reassembled the whole thing, and there are no problems in the geared part of the drivetrain. It still is really noisy, won't run at full speed, and in one of the gears it won't run at all. Part of the problem is the fact that there isn't torque off of the line, ie it won't do wheelies even with the slipper clutch completely tightened. Could it be something with the motors?
    Thanks,

could be with the motors or your wheels are over tightened pushing the hex hub up against the axel carrier. I had that problem, loosening the nut about a 1/2 turn fixed it.
Run it, break it, fix it, love it :]=~

did you happen to move the truck forward or backward with the transmission out? if there is an excessive amount of noise along with poor performance, my money would be on one or both diffs.

There was no noise from the differentials, but I'll try the wheels. If it's not that, then what else could it be?
    Thanks,

Your shift linkage may need adjusted. If it's not fully engaging in 1st/2nd/both gears, it can make bad noises & perform poorly.
