    non understanding people

i've noticed several threads lately about people talking about their friends that think rc is for little kids. I found this article that should be shown to everyone that thinks that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio-controlled_car

wow! my friends were not too interested in the hobby until they watched me too long It's funny to see people really impressed with it, but then a 6 year old wants to drive, then you don't know what to do?

I just say your to young to handle it, maybe when your older. They get mad, but too bad. The neighbors kid is like 3-4yrs old and always comes over when he sees my running my trucks. The one day his dad it just like, let him run it, he cant hurt it. I just said, are you going to pay me cash for replacements parts? He was like No, I will just buy you a better one at walmart or somewhere.... So I just kept on running the truck and walked away..

Makes me wish I still lived back home with my parents out in the boonies, it was nice having no one live near by... haha.

While I was at Septemberfest we had alot of little kids out there watching us put on our show. I could tell that many of them wanted to take a stab at it, so I just broke out my old mini T and let them each run it for a few min. It was funny to watch the look on the parents faces after they asked me how much they cost lol.

Lol, "a better one at walmart", that made me fall out of my chair laughing. People just don't get it. My stepsisters husband once asked me if his 5 year old daughter could drive my e-maxx. When I explained to him why not he looked at me all bewildered.

Its just not worth explaining to people sometimes. If the person isnt interested in the subject, then they dont want to learn about it. They don't want to understant why things are the way they are. Its just not worth wasting the time explaining to them the differences between hobby grade and toy grade.... its easier sometimes to just ignore them. I have found that MOST people realize these are not ordinary R/C's, but there are some who just don't care what it is. It really only bothers me when its an adult and they expect you to let their little child run someone elses R/C that is worth hundreds or thousands of dollars. Its like me asking the neighbor with the new Z06 vette to let my 18 yr old brother drive it Prom..... it just doesnt make sense.....

I got a hummer h2 that doesn't work from a 5 year old, I have taken all of the electronics out of it with a saw, I plan to crush it with my s-maxx when it's working and put it on video, I will post it if it works well and that will give an acurate explanation of their differences I plan to hit this thing at WOT

Well, I don't have that problem with my friends. They all are mechanically minded. the first thing they say is Kool! Take the lid off so we can see what's in there! loll

I don't care if someone calls it a toy, I know what it is and that's what counts i the first place.

Why does it list traxxas on the wikepedia site as "traxxas the chocolate truck" I wonder?

What I like to do is when people watch me drive my jato I make 5 or 6 half throttle runs and then say something like "pretty fast eh?" and they agree and then I let it rip and they go into shock.

lol that's why I want a jato 3.3, so I can do that, and 0-60 in 4.2 is better than my neighbor's ferrari! when I talk about my revo around some of my friends they tell me I should be an engineer, then I ramble off 170 digits of PI as fast as I can and almost start laughing in the middle because they look like they are seeing a miracle

Im in college now, and when i would walk down the hall with my t-maxx everyone would just look at me, and then i take it outside and mess with it, and everyones asking me these stupid questions, but once its fired up, they are all impressed. I love the hobby, and i think it really doesnt matter what people say. Some people like to spend thousands of dollars on smoking or drinking a year here in college. This hobby is a way for me to stay out of troube. Plus i love to tinker, and is the perfect way to enjoy customizing and building my own vehivles, even if its 1:10 scale. I fell in love with it and it will probally never go away. Yes i know in the future ill have more priorities, but its still a way for me to get out. Some people just dont want to open their eyes...but they are jsut missing out

While I agree this level of RC cars is far from kids play, you must keep in mind that we are all big boys with toys

I have turned my RC passion into a real family affair. I have a Maxx, my wife has a Maxx, my kids have their RCs. We go to the track as a family. My 8 year old loves to help me tinker with the trucks. Yes, priorities do change, but there is always some time to play.

All you need to do is get your work done as earily and quick as possible(While still doing it right) and then you can have fun.
