Nice Stampede/Rustler write up in RC Car Action Mag

September's issue of RC Car Action magazine http://www.rccaraction.com/rc/backis...?issueid=R0609 has a nice write up on the new Stampede and Rustler. It talks in detail about all the upgrades including motor, ESC, transmission housing, clutch, tires, etc. They also track test the trucks with detailed speed tests. A really well written article. It realy got me pumped about getting a new Stampede. I recommend it for any Stampede fan.

hate to burst your bubble, but the new stampede is not that different than the old one. It just has the grey parts, new and better looking body and wheels, and of course the electronics are new. I think the new motor is just like the stinger, you know good for beginners, but serious fans would replace it. Now the esc is a big improvement on the old xl1, but why couldn't they have put in a xl10? Anyway, I might buy the newer grey parts when my old black ones break, but i'm not going buy the new pede or rusty for that matter.

    that's my 2 cents anyway

Your not bursting my bubble. I know what is upgraded. And the new Stampede will not replace my SS5800 Widepede, bearings, Swami skid, Aluminum shocked ride. It will replace a bone stock pede. And how can you comment that the new motor is just like the Stinger? What expirience do you have with it? I think the new clutch and transmission housing address some issues that the older pede had. I think its a great update considering the cost over the older pede.

it's a simple mabuchi motor just like the titan 550's, the stingers, and any tamiya silver can. the only advantage it has over a regular 15-turn 540 motor is that it is fan-cooled, but a dyno-tuned 15t 540 will still most likely give you more speed than the titan 12t.
    - my motors can't be "properly geared"

The titan will outlast those other motors though and provide good performance. For people starting out, it is a very nice package. Not too mention the titan is a 550 motor which uses a longer armature than a 540, so it's not just a fan cooled 540 motor. Yes, Traxxas could have put a hot mod motor in with the XL-10 but then it would be selling for 225-250 versus 175.
Some things are just meant to make us wonder.

The new pede is much better out of the box!

If I'm not mistaken the titans were mabushi's but the newer ones with vents in the end are made by johnson.

Yeah. Dyno it. Then argue. No proof? Hold your opinion because its just that. An opinion.

    Anyways...
I wish I could just buy a new pede. It would be sweet
