Out of the box the brakes can lock up the rear wheels. How much more brake do you want? Make sure that your pads have a tight fit around the disc, and the block collar on your linkage is properly adjusted.

Actually mine performed poorly out of the box also. Many other members have had to adjust theirs too.

Here is a thread about fixing the problem. This idea, along with a little tweaking worked great for me. It still doesn't stop on a dime, but I'm used to the dual disk setup on my Hyper 7.

I hope it all works out for you. Once you get it dialed in, it works nice.

When you lock up the brakes on the Jato it skids to a stop, so locking them up isnt the best. I keep mine so they are just before locking up.

I have mine finally down to where if I want to, I can lock em up at low speed and do a spin because my diff oil is light.... at high speeds it doesnt lock up, it has to slow down first... I used the fuel tubing mod and a really powerful servo... the MG625... great servo and really got my brakes where I wanted them....

    Try this http://monster.traxxas.com/showthrea...jato+brake+mod

then follow this to a dime:

for me, the first didnt help, this I came up with this second one, and now they are close to the stopping speed of my Losi Aftershock, which will can cause you to flip over the front end!

Yea, the brake mod I did worked pretty good. I can make it lock the rear tires. I don't like that though. You have to do some tweaking though. I did have my out of the box shocks setup before I did the mod, they just faded out to quick. Like it would go out of adjustment. That one mod was quick fix, after I seen it on some of the earliest posts in the Jato forum.
