According to the Novak gearind addendum, 70/12 is ok with 7 cell packs, so 70/11 should be too.
70/11 will be a bit faster up top,
Make sure you have plenty of air flow over the motor and you will be fine.
I've been runing 13/66 with 7 cells on my street, but with the body off and the motor was cold after every run. It was slightly warm in some spots, but the rest was literally cold.

How's 70/11 faster than 70/12 up top? It's geared lower.

yes 70/12 is faster

allright thanks for the replys,i think im gonna start off with 70/12 when i get my hv,and go from there.
Yeah, 7012 is faster. Jag, what kind of weather are you running in? I geared 70/12, and it works great, but our recent 85-90 plus degree summer heat has proven 70/12 to be a little too high, it has thermaled a few times in the past week. I'm fixing to go 70/11, as soon as I can get around to ordering the pinion.
Nevermind, I see you're in texas. You'll probably want to go a little lower than 70/12, though it'll still be a good starting point and may very well work.
P.S., what could gearing do to the brakes. I'm figuring absolutely nothing, but I figured I'd ask as it appears that mine aren't as good as hv-brakes should be. BP, how does your gearing work as far as torque and top-speed are concerned?

Well, the pin in my MIP CVD's got loose (the setscrew must have backed off). I havent had a chance to fix it because a screw that holds my center skidplate on (which I need to take off to access the CVD's) is stripped.
So, I have run my HV only 4 times with 66/13 gearing. 3 times on 7 cell packs, once on 6 cell packs. Those packs being epic 3000mah sportpacks (the 7 cells are converted).
Now, my acceleration was crazy. In first, I could easily loop (flip over) even wtih my extremely low stance (as my truck is built for racing). In second, it was much more controllable at low speeds (doesnt wheelie at all) but will shoot off like a rocket. My top speed is rather incredible. I'd say its pretty close to my T-Maxx and not far from my Revo. Now, I was running without the body for airflow to the motor, so the motor was running ice cold.
I have put on a 70 tooth spur since, but have yet to run it since my CVD's still need to be retightened as mentioned above. I have also ordered a 12 and 11 tooth pinion which should be here Wednesday.
My braking is incredible. Far better than the stock motors, and the stock motors were awesome. At any speed with my HV, I can brake hard enough for it to flip (unless its under 3mph or so). The brakes are incredible. I use maybe, 20% brakes at most, maybe 30% when I'm in second.
Gearing would affect braking. Having lower gearing (higher ratio) would give you more powerful brakes. It basicaly works like this, the better your acceleration, the better your brakes.

well mwe if you thermaled in 85 to 90 degree weather,i think your right i will have to gear lower.im in houston,tx and the heat is crazy here,so i may start off at 70 /11 and go from there, just to be safe.

Yeah, I know I need to regear. I'm just waiting on my 11 tooth pinion to come.
Oh, sorry, I thought you said I need to regear (didn't read well enough the first time!)
Yeah, you should probably start 70/11 there in texas.
