    Prototyping a Stampede 6 Wheeler...

What I was thinking when doing this was to go with dual trannys and motors, such as used on a 4x4 pede conversion but only via a simple bolt on plate. The idea was a 6 track style Pede with quad powered rear wheels for traction. Why? I dunno, seemed like something to do.

I do a lot of prototyping typically out of scrape lexan or plexi (typically lasts as long as the test). I think this could be a really easy project for anyone who already has say a rustler that the motor could be borrowed from as well as a decent esc. All that would be needed would be the undercarriage plate (easily made), two batteries, a decent esc, and a complete rear end from another Stampede or Rustler. I would estimate that the project would take all of one quick evening and could be easily re-assembled back onto the spare Rusty or Stampede within minutes. Additionally as you can see, you could also keep going adding more trannys and motors. Just and idea I am sharing...

There is one on another forum that includes a video. It is two transmissions two motors and is connected by a plate that is basically an extended skid and two aluminum tubes connecting the shock towers.
It didn't have enough power... so, I rewired it!

Very cool idea. I think youy should also use another set of A arms and shocks on the rear, instead of the solid lexan.

Do you have a link? Love to see it. That was exactly the idea. Kinda want to see if it is viable before, ya know... I buy a Rustler "just to do this project".

TK 10 - Thanks for the comment, but I think I already mentioned that it was a prototype and about the shocks and a arms
", and a complete rear end from another Stampede or Rustler..."

I tried some thing like what you did, It drove like a motor home with no front tires. Had some crazy push! It's great if your going to do tractor pulls! I disassembled it for parts! Now if you make it a true 6x6 rather than a 6x4 It will turn better!

Actually, I don't. I looked for it and cannot find it. Jumo Kong Man pointed it out to me initially. Perhaps a PM is in order?

I bit behind the curve on that idea..

Shoot, though that would be a first and also a great excuse to buy a Rustler.

Found were the post and where video was supposed to be but looks like it was removed. So much for invention.

Ahhh, but has anyone tried a quad front wheel drive model. Can't image the handling on that thing,

I was thinking about doing this to my rustler this summer, since i'll have more funds (not to mention time) available then. If i do, i'm going to have a aluminum extending plate made, and a brace between the tops of the transmissions. i was even considering the possiblity of adding rear-steer on the second set of wheels. I'm not entirely sure this if thats feasable or not though

I wish I had pic's of mine but the best way to do the trans missions is to make them face each other! and share the same shock tower! also bit o warning! Figure on what size of tire your going to use for ever! And when figuring in the wheel spacing allow for balloning of them! I made that mistake and had to re do the spacing of the transmissions!
It's neat but make sure you make it a 6x6 with out the front pulling the truck will handle bad!

I did figure out a track system...

I did figure out a very simple track system a couple years ago based on a
snowmobile drive-train and a custom transmission plate which mounts to the side of the chassis and allows the track to move over and around the transmission housing vesus a side mount, however the track part is very expensive. Although a inexpensive track can be made out of stock tires as an example, they cannot handle the stress long term or track straight like a dedicated drive chain like intralox.com plastic high speed drive chains.

    http://www.intralox.com/PDF/technical/chainguide.pdf

I requested some samples which although would work great, track perfectly and are even used on some military bot tracks and lots of "botwar" bots are in the $200-$500 price range including the proprietary drive gears. The price is due to the fact that you need to buy 20+ feet at a time. The drive chain I was looking at were 6" & 8" widths and they even have some drive chain with embedded rubber. I personally think the regular intralox chain would have been more than sufficient and paddles could have been easily attached for use in sand and snow (the intended terrain). I would have been a great project, maybe after I win the lottery...

Since the Kyosho Blizzard EV was re-released, tracks should be easy to get:
