    Powerpole plug question...

Bought some Powepoles/Sermos/Anderson plugs. My question is whats the best way to either crimp or solder them? With crimping it seems to make the part crimped too wide to slid into the plastic housing. With soldering, do I tin the wire and metal end, then insert wire and heat both of them up? Not a lot of access there. Thanks.

I see. Need a special tool for crimping.

    What's best for RC use, 15, 30, 45, or 70 amp Powerpoles?

Needle nose pliers won't give you a good crimp.
I've tried both the GS-88 crimpers and the Radio Shack Crimpers. The Radio Shack give a better crimp.

The best way that I have found to solder them is to hold the wire upright with the connector portion sitting on the end. Then heat up the connector from the backside with your iron and drip solder down through the top of the connector until it is comming out of the bottom.

This way ensures a good connection, as long as you get the plug and wire hot enough.
It sure seems like sense is no longer common.
