I would think the blueish tinge would be the engine burning oil? Or is it....?

If the engine was burning oil, it would smoke all time, not just while the tires are spinning.

Dude, the Impreza at least looks semi-sporty. The Volvo 744 - well, the only step up in sleeper-ness would be a 745 (wagon). Or possibly the old mid-80's european Ford Granada.

Sleeper is like a wolf in sheeps clothing. Sleepers are non-high perfomance cars modified to go fast and/or handle great, but still look like stock. Catch people by suprise.. Thats why the volvo is a sleeper, its known as a slow family sedan, but the one in the video has tons of power.

or a '65 Ford Mustang Ealanor

I dont know about that. a GN looks basically like an old chevy unless you know something about cars.

You don't know about what? I didn't say a GN was or wasn't a sleeper.

sorry but volvos are cool, mates dad had a 2.5 ltr low pressure turbo volvo v70 estate like 200 od brake to the front wheels, and did 30mph to 110mph in 3rd gear(i tested it )
and you can gaurentee with that one, if you completly mess up what your doing and hit a lampost or solid concrete wall at stupid speeds, you know what ever you hit is giong to come off worse than a volvo, and also the new european fords are having volvo engines in them, super quick may have a return of the RS and RS cosworth fords

The US always get the horrible version of cars. I read somewhere that the Ford Taurus in Australia was a Rwd with a V8.

The new GTO we have here is a australian car with GTO badges and a vette engine. Not saying its bad just giving an example. They didn't even have hood scoops on the first one but before the GTO crowd got mad it had scoops. BTW You ever hear of the SHO, that wasn't too bad of a taurus.

the sho was no faster than a maxima, nothing for the US to get happy about.

Maybe not, but it had a Yamaha 6-cylinder that ran very well, from what I remember.

That's why you need to swap that sho engine into a tempo.

I love volvos, Volvos up to 1998 are great, after ford took over they were idiotic.

My paps volvo hit over 400,000 miles, and it wasn't even finished when he gave it away.

The Ford influence certainly makes itself known. I doubt that Volvo would have started using a V8 if it wasn't for Ford. Thankfully Ford largely leaves Volvo alone.

The 'regular' S80 is pretty slow. The S80 T6 (twin fan) isn't. I test-drove one. At the same time I was considering a late-90s 850 R (not the pale yellow kind - this one was red). However, sanity overcame me, and I went with an S70.

I have to question the sanity of anybody that would hot rod a Volvo. Seeing the video, I have to admit it makes a pretty cool sleeper. Fairly impressive maniac driving too!

I remember the Shogun too. Might even still have an old article around somewhere. Pretty sick little monster!

I don't know why these threads always have one-uppers who have to post about something they think is better. Hopefully they grow out of it and realize what it is really all about.

While the GN video is certainly impressive and the car is very sick, I don't see a comparison between a daily driver Volvo sleeper and a 1000hp drag car with open exhaust through the fenders???
