    Question useing revo tires

i've read that one of the best ways to loose rotating mass is to switch to revo tires. my questions are:

is it a direct fit to the T/E-maxx shafts?

does anyone know what the differeance is?

is there anything else i need to know about the change-over

thanks, your help is always apriciated

they fit, but they narrow your truck's stance...

for bashing, it shouldn't be much of a problem

for racing, i would rather suggest crime fighter mt's. they are the lightest maxx sized tire available. there is only 1 tire i know of that is lighter, but it is banned from some race tracks because it is just a wide buggy tire basically, its the panther komodo lp's. they are a little larger than a maxx series rim, and weigh close to nothing.

yeah, i read they're about 7mm thinner and 3mm larger, but other then that they're good? it's just for bashing, i thought it would put a little less strain of the drivetrain when i get my bl system

Oh, I forgot to ask.. Are you guys talking about just using the revo tire? Or using the revo rim too? Because the revo rim looks much lighter then the maxx's... And Im just a bashing looking to loose as much weight as possible... So I don't mind a bit narrower track-width.

I use Revo tires and rims on my E-Maxx.Its a lot lighter and it handles good on our track.Compared to the wider stance rims and tires,it doesnt handle much different IMO.

yes, we're taking both tire and rim, the tire won't fit on a standard maxx rim

Can you actually feel/see the difference with the lighter tires? Thats what Im most interested in.. Like when I put in my alum tranny gears.. I REALLY felt the difference. Is it the same with using revo tires/rims?

When holding the truck, you can feel a difference in weight.I do notice a little increase in speed, next to my dad`s E-Maxx with reg. sized maxx tires.I think its worth getting cansidering the weight decrease and the looks.

    Pro-Line Crime Fighter MT's

Ok, the advantage of a lighter tire is less weight. More importantly, its less rotating wieght...

so it counts double, less rotating mass, and less dead mass for the truck to pull...

this greatly increases acceleration and top speed ever so slightly (by letting the motors reach high rpm because its less drivetrain to spin).

Crime Fighters are the second lightest maxx sized tires i know of, the lightest being panther komodo dragon LP's. However, the LP's are banned from almsot all MT classes because they are a basically a buggy tire except twice as wide. They are only a few mm larger than a standard maxx rim, its more like a film over the rim, thus why they are so light.

As for a Revo rim and tire setup, they will make your truck's overall stance less because they have a negative offset... i wouldnt get them personally, but to each his own.

offset has nothing to do with the tire, its the rim...

bah! it's all over played! i got the revo tires today. i don't have any "fancy" scale, but the kitchen scale weighed them in at 1.10Kg, that's only 160g lighter then stock (1.26Kg, my used tires, 90% tread) and the tread on the revo is actually a smige wider then the maxx tires, and the tire itself is undoubtibly wider and taller (both only by a few mm) it seems the only tire that has any weight savings is the bowtie, reportedly weighing in at 163g (w/ foam, w/o wheel), i also checked the total loss in width, and found it only to be about 1cm, that's less then 1/2" lost in total. though i like the tires, i think they look cool in comparison, i was hoping for them to weigh at least 200g less then the maxx tires.

    b.t.w.

for more comparision the stock maxx wheel weighs 57g, the velocity wheel weighs 42g,,,, reportedly

From what Ive heard, the CrimeFighter MT's are the lightest tire available for maxx, with the exception of the panther komodo lp's as mentioned before.

I dont know how you only lost 1 cm of width, but when i put my revo tires on my e-maxx it took almost a full inch off...

I still would not have gone with the Revo tires, however, if i did, i would get the sporttraxx tires...they are lighter than the stock revo ones (about 100grams).

I didn't really like the Revo tires on my maxx. The tread hooked up nice and they looked good but I did not like giving up the stability.
