    batteries/charger questions

    I have gp 3300 batteries.
What should I store them at and how do I know when stop them at that point. Im using the mrc 977 charger. Also what does the battery indicator on the 977 charger indicate?
When discharging batteries I know to bring them down to .9 volts per cell (total for 6 cell pack = 5.4 volts) how do I stop them at that point?
    Thanks

I'm pretty sure you should store them at a full charge

can someone help me on my other questions
Also I do know to store my packs at about 30% or 50% of capacity. I just need to know when to stop the charger or how to make the charger stop for me?

Just store them fully charged. NiMh packs self-discharge faster than NiCds & there's no sense messing around with trying to cahrge them to a certain percentage of full capacity when you just need to insure that they don't discharge too low. If you're going to store them for longer than a month or so, it's best to repeak them once a month just to be safe.

As for discharging to .9V per cell, that's the limit of how low you should go. There's no need to specifically discharge them to .9V/cell. But if you insist, just stop discharging them when they get down to .9V/cell. How to stop discharging them depends on what you are discharging them with. The easiest way would be to simply disconnect them from the discharger when they reach that point.

Read your manual. I could probably answer this one too, but I'd do it by downloading the manual from MRC, reading it, then posting the info.

I just double checked the manual and it says nothing about the battery status (thats what they call it in the manual)

There's a diagram in the manual that shows what all of the stuff on the display means. The little rectangle that looks kinda like a battery shows the battery status. The battery on the display should fill up as the battery you are charging "fills up" to it's capacity. It's like the little bar graph on cell phones that shows you how much battery capacity you have left.

I don't have a 977 but I have a 969 the battery display fills up according to the mah setting which defalt is 1700mah. It takes me about 40min to charge 3300mah.
