used rusty - did i get the shaft?

ok, new to nitro, have run a few (and fast) elec. models but, am in need of some help with this 2.5 engine. bought the truck used and was told less than a quart run through and with proper break in. the truck seems to stall at the first triger pull but after a few seconds really gets after it, almost uncontrollable, is this just a tuning issue? I have had it stall and even cut out completely, if the throttle is pulled too quickly. hopefully in need of some tuning advice.

If it runs its just possibly a tunning issue. Make sure no cracks in the fuel line leaks bolts are tight around carb. on the high speed screw 2.5 turns out is factory and Low speed screw is flush with the surface try setting it to that and then tunning from there.

after the engine runs for a bit and builds up heat you want to have a bit of blue smoke coming out of the muffler of its alot it may be to rich and no smoke means could be to lean and running hot which would make it run bad and cut out

Had to back the high speed needle out about three and a half turns, (maybe a little cold for factory?) but after that a 1/16 turn on the low speed and wham! speed demon! thanks for the help.

When i owned my Rustler, i touched the low-speed one time when tuning, its almost 99.9% always the Highspeed.

It could also be an air leak, make sure everything is tight.
