Thank you for the pics. I broke my fill "thing" and was looking for new ideas, as I am a fabricator of sorts. this worked great and took a very short time to make.

I will be practicing this week at Fear farm rc raceway in Surprize, arizona...then its off to Nitro Pit at speedworld to race with the truggies since mine is setup to race with them. I will post my results here when im done racing...ohh and speedworld is this weekend or next weekend...whenever they do the races

Hey Guys,

No one here really talks about racing anymore ... where are you all racing at ? I have been racing in North East Texas place called Tatum Texas, Eagle Raceway. They have a special REVO Challenge race just for Revo's. I raced there two times and have placed second both times. It's a new smooth red clay track not even on the list of tracks yet - they only have races every other month. I will be racing there next month on July 2nd. I know that the Truggy's have put the REVO out to pasture on racing - I have an X-ray XT8 I do serious racing with, but you know I love driving my REVO, the racing seems to be allot more fun. Espically when it just all REVO's. I hope the REVO racing doesn't die out. Let me know where your racing and how your doing.

July Race went very well both in the REVO Challenge Race and the 1/10 Monster Truck - 1st in both classes. August race will be 27th of this month. Talk to your local track and your LHS about having a special REVO Class race every so often or run a MT class race. Most tracks will host the race for you if you will take the lead to get your REVO buds there. Allot of the new guys will come with RTR's rightout of box but show them what can be done and they will soon be holding their own.

Ok, need help... live in NY, actually out on Long Island, and I have no idea where there ar any local tracks that are outdoor dirt, that I can actually run my Revo and my son his TMAXX. I am willing to drive to Staten Island and New Jersey, and I don't even mind us picking p and going on a friday night to PA, staying in a hotel and running our cars all day at a track and then going home later..
So I gues the short of the mess above is "Does anyone know where I can run outside on a dirt track, Revos and TMaxx's?"

Anybody else out there? Just wondering if Revo racing is still alive? My LHS is opening 2 new tracks and all I have is Revos!! I wanna race since I never have before, and just wanna get out there and run with some fellow MT owners. Hope somebody still reads this thread...

about 3 years ago it was falling off really bad... it kinda is non existent now.. few tracks still run this class... if your tack does.. you better count your blessings

My track runs mt class BUT it's on road, But they allowed truggies to run in mt class and they beat the pants off of us Revo's. I still have mine to bash with, but you know the old, old saying "If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em" so I had no choice but to. Now I race on and off road with my 8t2.0. I sure do miss the real mt class.

Short Coarse, Truggies and Buggies.... 1/10 scaled Trucks, MT's just went downhill.. Many went to the Truggy and or Short Coarse platform....

I must admit,,, I sure would love it if some of the guys at the track brought out their MT's again....

I still take mine to the track sometimes. My son runs it in the sportsman class, and sometimes in the truggy class. It is more of a novelty now.

We are building a track with Revo's in mind.. (Slayers too).. we have the track 90-95% complete, just working out a lil more piping and some fine tuning.. our next big step is a nice big drivers stand.. we hope to be open for practice in the next few months and hopefully start holding some races in the near future... We are located in Kaufman, TX... I would like to get some feedback on people that would be willing to come out and check out the track and give us some feed back on the track... Not sure how many folks are local that are into the RC world... I look forward into your reactions.. Thx

Really is a drag that MT's have dropped so much in popularity...I still love running mine and wish I could find others who like running them.. Best way to let off steam after a long day of work! Oh and by the way HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!!!

I know at least one track with a strong showing of Revo and Nitro monster trucks every week. Don McGraw posted about in post 2087 and 2088 back in 2011. It is a nice outdoor track located in North East Texas near Longview and Tyler. Anyone in the area who is itching to run there nitro MT needs to come check it out! The track has regular classes of 2wd SC, 4wd SC, Nitro MT, and Revo. The track runs 2 races every other month due to the owner's work schedule. You can check it out at http://www.eagleracraceway.com

Revo are awesome trucks. It is funny that it gets rank #1 for so many consecutive years, yet nobody races them much anymore!?!?! I own three of them and have never regretted my purchases. I still believe electric is for people who are not very mechanically inclined, ie. They cannot figure out nitro engines and take the easy way of plug n go play. Nitro Revos are my most favorite rc vehicles I have ever purchased. I wish Traxxas would make an effort to revitalize and re- invigorate their product following! ! I would love to race these trucks in a class at my lhs, but people just buy them now to bash. That is great and I bash as well, but sometimes you just want some formal competition to see if I can hang with some other MT drivers! My dad lives close to the Eagle Raceway mentioned in previous Texas posts. Next visit up that way, I think I might swing by and check it out. Well, thats my thoughts for now. Still hope Traxxas makes an effort to ramp up Revo interest again.

I do own a brushless car with a lipo pack and through it may seem like it is plug and play it is much more involved than that. Read the electric forums and there are a lot of smart people out there that like to play with the electricity, deal with all the volt/watt/amp formulas, determine what kv motor works best for the vehicle and applicable gearing to provide the most power and keep temps down. So to say that

is far from the truth and will only start a flame war. The not very mechanically inclined should not own a hobby-grade vehicle; or if they do they better learn how to become mechanically inclined. In addition, they may not want to deal with the tuning and tinkering of the engine.
I could go on and on even for the products they put out. When I joined here there was about an even amount of nitro and electric vehicles. They have a larger following now and their selection of products is related to what the consumers want: more electric vs nitro. Unless their is a revolutionary break-through in nitro or gas engines they will continue to lag behind the electrics.
Racing: it's about what shows up at the track. I'm not a racer but from what I can tell, electrics has taken over. That's not Traxxas' fault but the consumer's.

and consumers wants whats easy, less hassle, and can run anytime they want... electric gives that.. the majority of people that run electric cars are a little less mechanically inclined than those that run Nitro...

Just FYI Double G, I am a journeyman electrician by trade. That said, what you say of the electrics can also be said for nitros(the gear ratios, horse power, fuel types, glow plugs etc.). As far as your "flame war", I think you have been the only one "flaming". You post your opinions, looks like over 8000 of them, I'm just posting mine. Also kgombe1 makes a good observation, less the flame. Consumers DO want what is easy and less hassle. At the track, I see people look at the electrics, but the always leave them when they hear the nitros fire up.

I cut my teeth in RC with nitro some 13 years ago. With brushless systems and lipo batteries there is no reason to run nitro anymore. The smell and the sound are great that's why I've kept my '99 .15 t maxx....as a novelty. As for the rest of my nitros, they have been sold off or converted to brushless power. It's easier for my kids to run the electrics, I don't have to tune 3 trucks anymore when we want to play together. Everyone is proud of their nitros I know I was, but they are simply not the baddest on the block anymore. I'm not mechanically disinclined I just changed with the times. No more lugging fuel, an ignitor, and a screw driver. No more pull starts or dead ezstart batteries or hump packs. Just slap in a fresh lipo and go.

There was a guy at the lhs today that came in with a platinum edition revo. The same truck that has sat in the store since 2008. He said he was on his first tank and the truck ran away and slammed into a fence post. He had the cheapest 27mhz radio installed in it that I have ever seen. I thought to my self that he is surely gonna destroy that beautiful truck. I think that the learning curve of a nitro is what keeps people new to the hobby going to electric. Not really that they might not be mechanical...I know mechanics that prefer brushless.

just quoting what you said man.. u said no tuning 3 cars.. or lugging fuel.. just change battery and go.. i have both vehicles.. i race electric touring cars and its a blast ... you have allot of calculations to do with gear ratio and motor timing and type of track you run on... i'm proud of rc as a hobby... what i am not proud of is nitro vs electric ignorance.. i say most people that chose electric are not mechanically inclined, i'm not saying everyone, some just like the ease of use like you do, but its a majority..I worked in different hobby shops and its a fact...

and electric is only faster in a drag race on the track nitro gets faster lap times (off road) not sure about on road.. and that to is a fact...

Fair enough. There is some thing to be said about a revo running a perfect tune. At times I do miss the smell and the sound, that's when I fire up that old slide carb T Maxx.

Nitros are heavier so they land quicker, carry more inertia through the turns, and provide more bite putting more power to the ground on off road tracks. Not sure about on road either...not my cup of tea.

It was my impression from the very little I read about racing...I'm not into it nor do I follow it. You have more of a grasp in that area than I would. I guess the term "lag" was not the best to use in my argument.

I do not doubt that there is a relation between gear ratios, fuel, plugs, et al, however, by stating:

this in itself is designed to start a flame war of this vs that and will only replay the hundreds of threads where someone starts "electric is better than nitro" or "batteries are for children's toys", etc. I have gotten reports from your two posts stating this so I'm not alone. Take the time to read up on what flaming is. What you wrote fits that definition and not only I but others have agreed with me. The above quoted sentence in itself belittles those who prefer the BL & lipo combos and are be considered personal attacks against those individuals. Read my post again and read it well. Where in there is there a form of bashing or flaming or in any way to incite a war? I'm pretty sure that the forum admin and other moderators have seen that my 8,000 posts have been helpful in one way or another--sure I've made opinions--but you don't become a moderator for flaming in every post. You seem to know your stuff but continue on this course and it may not last long. I highly suggest you reread the rules you agreed to when you signed up and you will have a long and productive membership here.
