    7 cell packs??

I am thinking of purchasing a E-maxx......My buddy just got one last night......I want to run 7 cells and have read the write up on how to build one.
I was looking at the underneath of the battery tray and it looks like if you cut (do a little triming) a plastic bar out of the bottom you could easily run a 7 cell upside down. Has anyone done this?? I know cutting part of the chassis is not the best idea, but this seems like it would work fine.
I was looking at building some 7 cells like Traxxas did, but 7 seems to be an odd number when buying individual cells.
(I used to race 10-T's back in the early 90's and am somewhat familiar w/ the RC industry)........
    Thanks! Trevor

I was also trying to figure some type of way to protect the 7th cell since it would be exposed (I don't own an E-maxx so I don't know if the bottom of the battery tray gets beatin to death)

I personally don;t know anyone who has not modded their chassis. It is ok as long as you don't ruin it structurally.

I would be cautious about that though. The reason there is a servo saver is because all the punishment the underside takes. Batteries are very sensitive. A blow could easily damage it.

Now that being said, plenty of people run batts under the chassis. You will just want to make sure that it is very well protected.

as long as the battery doesnt protrude farther than the transmission skid plate, then it should be fine unless you land on an object that isnt flat and it happens to poke the battery.

oh, sorry, the e-maxx doesnt come stock with a tranny skidplate, it just comes with chassis braces. personally, i would just run the seventh cell just as traxxas did, with the batteries above and toward the inside....

I think the chassis will take 7 on one side underneath and 8 on the other side all flat in a single flat pack.

There's al;so room under the trans for 6 or 7 but like the under chassis ones it is not well protected unl;ess there's a plate under them. I like using 6 cell standard pack on the

Okay great. Thanks guys. I am debating on building my own pack price wise. You can get a couple 7 cell humps mah @ 1900 for less than $40.00 for 2. The single cell purchace would run around $40.00 for 1.
Is anyone running a 7 cell hump in the tray upwards and have a modified battery holder??
    Thanks for the input guys.

I bought some 7's from a compnay called Boom Boom Batteries. They were supposedly made specificall for the Emaxx, but I couldn't get them to fit at all. They made the wires too short to connect if I stuck the 7th down through the chassis, and it wouldnt fit at all in any other location. But I have seen some that have the 7th battery up and to one side so that you can use your stock strap. You can also just cut @7" piece of rubber and put a hole in each end for a strap.

Hey - Buy my Emaxx from me, and you can have one of my 7's to play around with!

    7 Cell Setup

Try using a 7 cell setup like the one here:
    GP 3700 7 Cell E-Maxx Pair

I use this system and it works great! No need for cutting anything.

I see you are in Edmonds too. I'm down in Vancouver (wa) but my company (trucking co.) has a terminal in Tukwilla. We make local p/u's all over the Seattle area. There wouldn't be shipping charges.
I'm pretty shady purchasing a used E-maxx though. I checked out your post in the FS section. The truck does look good though.

The cost is cheap because the quality is cheap. You'd be much better of spending the money for good packs.

Spec Point Concepts has a good deal on GP3700 packs. They're priced about the same as other companies GP3300 packs. You might be able to do better if you shop around more, but that's what I came up with in a 5-minute search.
