    Charger question

Hey I just changed my user name from glijon04 to this For some reason i couldnt post.
    ANYWAY

I have an Astro flight AC/DC charger but i do not have the instructions its probably about ten years old. I need to know if I can charge NIMH batts with it. It was pretty expensive and it has an amp meter and is a fast charger model about 15 mins to charge a 1500 mah NiCd. Should I just a 3000 mah NiMh battery
and see what happens? I;e if it charges or not?

Also Would a 6 cell 3000 mah NiMh push the boat faster than a 1500 mah NiCd?

A charger that old probably will not charge NiMh batteries. I'm not a 100% sure, but you could try searching the net for an instruction manual.

A 3000 battery will push a boat fast than a 1500 battery will. If you use Deans plugs or power pole you will be able to increase your speed slightly more.

I would not charge NiMh cells on that charger. It is probably too old. I would, also, not buy 3000 batteries even if they are from sanyo or panosonic because those were not the best cells. They also did not last very long in terms of how many times you can charge them. I would buy (at the least) some Ballistic 2400 packs. They are $64 for two and perform very well. Gp3300 un-matched packs are only a little more than the 2400's though so the Gp's would probably be your best bet.

    Happy boating,

In some cases a seven cell cheap battery will be slower than a six sell good battery (ie a cheap 1500 seven cell vs. a Gp3300 six cell pack). In most cases though a seven cell pack will be faster if you are compairing similar cells.

    Happy boating,
