How much is this car worth?

How much is a 1977 camaro with a 383 stroker motor (with only 2 1/4mile runs on it), A turbo 400 trans, a 10 bolt rear end posi with 4.10's (only 10 runs on the rear end was just rebuilt), and m/t et streets bout 70%life on them. the front seats are bucket seats and it has the original back seats in perfect condition. It does not have a dash at all it was taken out it only has 3 guages oil, water, temp, the guy was making a drag car out of it but he got a new project so he wants to get rid of it. it doesent need much to make it steet leagel all it needs is a speedometer?

Oh yeah the car also has a 3500rpm stall, and a holley 4 bbl carb. the car runs very strong. the body is also very straight no dents at all and has a paint job.

    Not likely.

It really depends on the overall condition of the car, and would have to be a perfect (or close), completed project to be worth that kind of cash.

Depending on the overall condition, it could be worth as little as $3000-$4000 (or less), even with the 383 and other mods.

Any idea what it ran in the 1/4?

No dash means no heat/AC/radio etc.
I personally think it would be too much trouble to re-install all that stuff correctly. The engine *may* not be legal in your state - depending on emission regulations.

I'd personally look for something else. Mid-late 70's Camaros aren't that hard to find, but they definitely aren't a common sight anymore. (anything 70's for that matter.....)

If the car has a 383 stroker,et streets and 4.10`s you don`t need a radio the engine will be the music for ya. A/C and heat are over rated in a street/strip car.

Depending on your state you can get historic plates since it is more than 25 years old. I know in jersey with historic plates you don`t have to get the car inspected. That is how my old nova and chevelles were able to be driven on the street.

If you want a "daily driver", you need to get a safety and emissions inspection, otherwise there are severe restrictions on use. If you have historic plates and you want to be exempt from inspection, you can only drive the car for "exhibition purposes". If you have the car registered as a "collector car", you can bypass inspection but are limited to 3,000 miles a year.

Nothing is simple in New Jersey!

    "Vehicles Exempt from Inspection:

Inspections are not required for certain vehicles, such as historic and collector vehicles.

    Historic Vehicles

To be designated as a "historic vehicle," the owner must ensure that the vehicle

*is at least 25 years old,

*is used only for exhibition purposes or was manufactured before 1945,

*has a special registration and a QQ plate displayed on the rear of the vehicle.

    Collector Vehicles

For a vehicle to be designated as a "collector vehicle," the owner must apply at the time of registration or renewal for this designation and must provide evidence that the vehicle:

*is not registered as a "historic vehicle," under N.J.S.A. 39:3-27.3 et seq., or a "street rod," under N.J.S.A. 39:3-27.27,

*is not driven more than 3,000 miles per year,

*is insured as a limited use "collector vehicle." (Proof must be supplied at time of odometer verification.)

For inspection-exempt status, the vehicle must be taken to a state inspection station for odometer and insurance verification.

Visit the exit end of the inspection station.
Ask the inspector to verify the odometer reading of the "collector vehicle"; MVC may require that the vehicle be equipped with an odometer lock.

Pay fee ($25 and $10 per renewal) for the special decal which indicates that the vehicle is exempt from safety and emission inspection.

I have friends that use their historic vehicle for daily driver purposes. Cops have never bothered them. I used to drive my race cars with QQ plates to work and for cruises on the weekend. Only time the cops ever said anything was when they wanted to compliment me or ask me about it.

When you go to trenton you have to bring pictures of the car to get approved for QQ`s. My nova had a 10 point cage with head bar,it was fully tubbed, fiberglass front end no lights lexan windows and I got plates infact here is a picture of it right after it was painted before the small block went in it.

It doesn`t get any more race car than that. So it`s actually very easy to get plates.

My mustang race car now is registered as a "collector vehicle" and it has the nifty triangle inspection sticker. The hard part was finding an insurance company to give me coverage

Here is a pic of the notch as you can see it has plates on it

I wish it were that simple! In NJ, we now put cars on a dyno and run them up at highway speeds and check the emissions. It is probably a better method than the idle emissions test, but it takes a long time to do - so long that they extended the inspection period to two years to reduce wait times at inspection stations. Gee, maybe it isn't so bad after all!

88notch - you do have some nice toys! I am not doubting that you got the historic or collector plates, and have bypassed the inspection. The cops may not give you problems about "bending" the rules, but your insurance company certainly will if anything should happen! I was looking into collector car plates for my '87 Buick Regal GN and decided I would keep normal plates and coverage through the driving season. I simply sign a "withdrawn from service" document so I don't pay insurance in the winter months when it just sits in the garage.

In New Jersey with historic tags, there is NO mile limit. The regulations are that the car/truck cannot be driven to work, must be over 25 years old, etc. You can drive all night and as many miles as you want.

Correct. The extra driving restrictions are put in place if you want to be exempt from the safety and emissions inspection. If it passes inspection, you can drive it whenever you want as long as your insurance covers it. Collector car insurance is inexpensive, but often places mileage/time of day restrictions.
