My dad has a Dakota with the performance package. it's a 92' I think and it kicks @ss! It will out pull my brother-in-law's Chevy Tahoe by alot pulling a 3500lb boat. The Chevy had to down shift into 3 gear where as the Dodge (with V8) doesn't have any problem and doesn't have to down shift. He even got pulled over by a cop one time doing 75 up a hill towing a boat and the guy let him off!

Also, I'm not sure if you mentioned this but it has Posi-tration. Note: If you ever get the rear end tuned up, make sure they use Dodge oils and aditive because aftermarket and other company oils will not lubricate right and cause the rear end to Grind. (not good, happened to my dad)


P.S. - We are in the process of restoring a 79 Corrvette C3 Shark. it gonna have some power!

personally, I'm not a fan of dodge trucks, though the R/T will beat any other truck off the line (except the Ford SVT lightning)
I am, however, a huge fan of dodge cars! Anyone hear of the new Hennessy Venom 800? It's an 833 HP viper that will do 0-60 in 2.43 seconds, making it the fastest production car in the world... ever!!!! 2.43 seconds off the line makes it about twice as fast as a lamborghini diablo!!!

Pitslayer, you neglected to mention that the Viper gets a city gas milage of about 9 MPG. Now, I'd love to have a Viper (V10--hehehhe!), but after emptying my bank account into the initial purchase, I don't think I could afford the insurance, fuel, and repairs! I'll stick with my Toyota for now - it doesn't need repairs, it's too reliable.

Must be a Shelby 5.2. The R/T package debuted in 1998.

Dakota 5.9 R/T's are pretty sweet - fun to drive! Sucks in snow!

ya the new zo6's are so sweeeeeeeet. 405 hp , 0-60 in 4 seconds, the thing is a factory ordered race car. car and driver tested it and said it out handles the competition. and plus its 30k less than a viper and its about 100k less than all those other european sports cars. the ford lightnings better watch out cause chevy is coming back with the ss silverado. the thing has a vette suspension front and rear, vett six speed, a 402 ci small block, is normally aspirated and has 480hp, the lightning only has 380 but its supercharged and inter-cooled which is pretty lame if you cant build a motor with some horsepower with out a blower on it. and speaking of towing things , my dad just bought a 2002 avalanche 2500. its the only 2500 avalanche ive seen on the road. its all black , has leather interior, heavy duty leaf springs in the back (they are the same ones of the silverado hd), has a 373 posi rear end, 16 forged aluminum wheels, and the best part of all the 8.1 liter vortech big block, has a displacement of 496ci, has 340hp, 455 pound feet of torque, heavy duty four speed automatic. the truck is made to two. it can two 10,000lbs. its a pretty sick truck. needless to say it can smoke the rear tires right off. "ya like them spining tires do ya?' lol

it will reach a top speed of 406 km/h (252 mph) and accelerate from a standstill to 300 km/h (186 mph) in under 14 seconds.

but i dunno from 0-60

IMO the Avalanche is as ugly as a Pontiac Aztec, but to each they're own. Why does GM (or any automaker) think that glueing a bunch of grey plastic all over makes it look cool? Except for maybe a Silverado, GM is in no danger of filling my garage anytime soon.

i know but ford tries to copy everything chevy does. but plus i hate ford so i had to go for it. my favorite ford joke , ford= factory ordered road disasters. dodge is cool, my grandfather had a sweet 1994 all red 2by4 had the 5.2 in it. lets say that thing could spin them tires up real nice.

Dont forget that there will be a 5.7 litre hemi v-8 in the ram in 2003. they are also going to make a 6.1litre version. the 5.7 has 350hp and 450lb-ft of torque. there may also be a high performance version which will be able to kill the f-150 lightning

43Cheerios is right; it's a 5.7L. If I remember right, the tech summary my dad got says 335HP. But I'm not sure.
