a few how-to's for the jato, misc pics.

im just posting this because i was bored this morning and decided to do it. i removed the battery pack (4 AA "cube") and i stuffed it in the center area below the ez-start. yes it's not supposed to be there, but i did it anyway because i put the bumper on today too. just fill up your pack with the 4 batts, then tweak the brake linkage so that it fits into the hole. it may take some pushing and finessing, but it will work until i get a 5-cell. i even got the cover on top of it so it would hold it better. there is a rib on the bottom of the cover that may need to be shaved off, i did. before i shaved it off, the linkage would catch on the cover and not go WOT. it worked perfectly after i shaved the rib. pull the throttle return spring out to the outside of the linkage (away from the ez-start) while your at it.

    bumper...

    revo pipe-
i fitted the revo pipe also, it is extremely easy to do actually. take off the stock pipe, leave the exhaust coupler on the header. take the pipe hanger off and completely flip it over. it will mount in there nicely, and just take the end of the pipe hanger and set over the end of the pipe, and tighten down. it will hold it there nicely, i havent ran it yet.

i also changed diff fluid to 60WT, it was much easier then i thought it would be

    brake spring mod:

some have been complaining about brake drag, so i decided to do what i did on my revo to Mr. Jato. it significantly reduces the drag, you can set the calipers closer t

    there you go, enjoy

Nice How-To's. Though you should clean that thing!, your bearings in the first pic look like they are rusting away.

Rather than spending time bodging wouldn't routine maintainence be a better idea?

Looks good, just gotta clean that thing up! Those wheels have an insane amount of offset...

So how is the center battery cover held on there?

I doubt the hanger will hold the pipe. Also be very careful, the pipe IS going to vibrate and I bet with that exhaust hanger setup it will cause glitiching. Try putting some fuel tubing on the hanger.

Or better yet, make your own hanger out of a coat hanger and use the pipes middle mounting location like I did. Clickety-Click

You will like it with the Revo pipe, there is an increase all throughout the powerband.

those pics were taken before i cleaned it up some. i like to put on my new parts then clean it, i did some. it was really no use to clean it just for pics, i then went out to proceed to bash, and i got it much dirtier. i hate how the rears have so much offset, i want to buy some rustler rims to go on those tires. i didnt know that when i bought them, i never would have. the pipe hanger didnt work, i knew that would happen. it held on for about 3 tanks, then i stopped, it started to melt the mud guard at the outlet of the pipe. i would like to have the blue pipe though. silver looked better on the revo. im going to do the coathanger trick when i go to the LHS tonight and get some new parts.

I used a stainless tig filler rod to make a pipe hanger when I tried the associated pipe on my Revo. The stainless tig rod works awesome if you have access to one. Not to mention it's stainless steel, holds up well and won't rust. I'm not sure what diameter the rod is I used, I found it at work!!!

    Twostroke,
What kind of spring did you use on that brake mod? I read a thread about using an ink pen spring. I did the fuel tubing mod on the brakes and even tightened the calipers about an 1/16 to 1/8 of a turn, stops much better now! But.... I think I am getting some brake drag.

    Thanks for the help!!!

It looks like that Jato gets a lot of use.
Can't win if you don't finish!
