Thinking of buying a sport, but dont know the diffrence between a sport and a rustler. Is the only diffrence the engine. Cant afford a rustler but if bought a sport would like to add hop up like the 2.5 is this possible.

The sport and the rustler use a lot of the same parts. The engine is different, as well as the upper and lower chassis. The rustler has an aluminum lower chassis and the sport doesn't. The rustler also has bellcrank steering, which is a little more precise. The arms, wheels, gears, suspension, etc. are all the same. If you want to upgrade it without spending the money upfront it's easily done.
Newbies have vehicle problems.----Veterans have money problems.
if you cannot afford to spend an extra $70 on a rustler then this hobby is not for you, save up, it be best to go with a jato wich is alot more but every penny it is worth it, this hobby is very expensive, if you dont work at all, and dont get money, only have it from a b-day or sumtin, then you will end up seling your car in a few months, just wait and save up for a jato, or at least a rustler
the only diference between them
both 1st gen have pro .15s
1st gen sport- no slipper clutch- direct steering (really bad)
1st gen rustler- slipper clutch- bellcrank (much better
2nd gen (what you would get if you were to buy new)-both have slipper, same steering as gen 1
2nd gen sport- pro .15
2nd gen rustler- trx 2.5
srry if this post is allittle depressing or downing but this is how it is

The sport is a cheap intro into an expensive hobby.
Without some extra cash chances are you're going to break something pretty quick and without a little extra cash you're going to be out of business for a while.
Even a simple turnbuckle with rods will set you back about $10 for a pair shipped.
You should buy a used truck with spare parts, that way you get into the hobby and have some spare parts to fall back on when you bust something.
actually the 1st. gen had just the trx .15 and the 2nd gen has the pro .15
anyway if u like rc enuf than it dusnt matter if u have a job or not.......i dont have one and i dont get allowance whenever money comes my way i use it on my car and i get along fine....if u love rc enuf then it dusnt matter
yeah same here when ever people offer me a small task for some cash im on it to get some stuff for my car
I have a good job, and already have a e- Rustler. I also have twin boys and a wife, so big money going down at one time is out of the question. I just ordered a sport online from tower and plan to build it up. I can spend 10 or 20 dollars on parts a week but anymore and the wife has a fit. Love the hobby and will continue to upgrade on the downlow.

I got my sport yesterday and started the braking it in today. I got to the secound tank and it started to rain! I did find out one thing, why dont they glue the tires on at the factory. They came off about 6 times and I wasnt guning it, just doing the break in. Well, I put my dirt hawgs and rims from my E rustler on the back but was disapointed to find out my front rims will not work on my sport. The only other complaint I have is the turning could be better. Boy, does it move compared to my rusty.![]()
